Abstract
The use of plastic as a substitute for non-metallic metals in various household and automotive applications is increasing due to its lightweight, elasticity, durability, and low production cost. However, the rising consumption of plastics poses serious environmental problems due to the accumulation of non-biodegradable plastic waste. To mitigate this impact, the utilization of recycled plastics presents a promising alternative, although it faces challenges related to the degradation of mechanical properties during the recycling process.This study aims to analyze the effect of temperature variation in the injection molding process on the mechanical properties of plastic rods made from a blend of LDPE, HDPE, and PP. The method involves producing samples with a composition of 50% HDPE, 20% LDPE, and 30% PP at two different temperatures: 190°C and 200°C. Mechanical property testing was conducted through tensile and impact tests.The results show that at 200°C, the virgin plastic blend exhibited the best mechanical properties, with a maximum tensile strength of 23.67 MPa, strain of 14.04%, elastic modulus of 198.88 MPa, and impact value of 1.077 Joules/mm². This study demonstrates that recycled plastic products have the potential to support the development of more environmentally friendly plastic materials.

Additional Information: | Penggunaan plastik sebagai pengganti metal non metal dalam berbagai aplikasi rumah tangga dan otomotif semakin meningkat karena sifatnya yang ringan, elastis, tahan lama, dan biaya produksinya yang rendah. Namun, peningkatan konsumsi plastik menimbulkan masalah lingkungan serius akibat akumulasi limbah plastik yang sulit terurai. Untuk mengurangi dampak ini, pemanfaatan plastik daur ulang menjadi alternatif yang menjanjikan, meskipun menghadapi tantangan terkait penurunan sifat mekanik akibat proses daur ulang. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh variasi temperatur pada proses injection molding terhadap sifat mekanik batang plastik yang terbuat dari paduan LDPE, HDPE, dan PP. Metode yang digunakan meliputi pembuatan sampel dengan komposisi HDPE 50%, LDPE 20%, dan PP 30% pada dua temperatur berbeda, yaitu 190°C dan 200°C. Pengujian sifat mekanik dilakukan melalui uji tarik dan uji impak. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pada temperatur 200°C, paduan murni menghasilkan sifat mekanik terbaik dengan tegangan tarik maksimum sebesar 23,67 MPa, regangan 14,04%, modulus elastisitas 198,88 MPa, dan nilai impak 1,077 Joule/mm². Pada penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa produk plastik daur ulang, Dapat berpotensi mendukung pengembangan material plastik yang lebih ramah lingkungan. | |||||||||
