Abstract

Fishing vessels refer to ships, boats, or other floating devices used for fishing activities, including surveys or fisheries exploration. The purpose of this study is to determine the resistance and propulsion of the vessel to find a matching point between the engine and the propeller, as well as to understand the comparison of land use engine and marine use engine on fishing vessels in the waters of Karangantu. The results of this study can be applied to engine operation based on engine and propeller revolutions resulting from the intersection in the engine-propeller matching analysis. The study was conducted using speeds of 4 knots, 5 knots, 6 knots, 7 knots, and 8 knots, followed by measurements of engine revolutions and propeller revolutions. The values of resistance (RT) at each successive speed variation were found to be 339.94 N, 624.92 N, 1276.69 N, 2283.52 N, and 3644.57 N, respectively, with thrust (T) values of 1559.55 N, 2038.58 N, 2591.29 N, 3774.56 N, and 3708.13 N, respectively. The intersection point between the engine and the propeller, based on the engine-propeller matching analysis, was found to be at 87% of the engine and propeller revolutions, where the engine revolution (n engine) was 2784 rpm and the propeller revolution (n propeller) was 674 rpm (gearbox ratio 1:4.3). Thus, the recommended service speed is 7.8 knots with resistance (RT) of 3220.81 N and thrust (T) of 3617.17 N. The use of land use engines on fishing vessels is highly unsuitable, as modifications to the cooling system and clutch can lead to a decrease in engine performance. Therefore, it is recommended to replace the engine with a Yanmar 4JH5E for more efficient engine use.

Additional Information: Kapal perikanan merujuk pada kapal, perahu, atau alat apung lainnya yang digunakan untuk melakukan penangkapan ikan, termasuk juga untuk kegiatan survei atau eksplorasi perikanan. Dilakukanya penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menentukan besar hambatan dan propulsi kapal untuk mendapatkan matching point antara engine dan propeller serta mengetahui perbandingan penggunaan land use engine dan marine use engine pada kapal nelayan di perairan Karangantu. Hasil dari penelitian ini dapat diaplikasikan pada pengoperasian engine berdasarkan putaran engine dan propeller hasil dari perpotongan pada analisis engine propeller matching. Penelitian dilakukan dengan menggunakan kecepatan 4 knot, 5 knot, 6 knot, 7 knot dan 8 knot yang kemudian dilakukan pengukuran besar putaran engine dan putaran propeller. Didapat nilai hambatan (RT) pada setiap variasi kecepatan sebesar 339,94 N, 624,92 N, 1276,69 N, 2283,52 N dan 3644,57 N dengan nilai thrust (T) sebesar 1559,55 N, 2038,58 N, 2591,29 N, 3774,56 N dan 3708,13 N. Didapat titik perpotongan antara engine dan propeller berdasarkan analisis engine propeller matching yaitu di 87% putaran engine dan propeller dimana putaran engine (n_engine) sebesar 2784 rpm dan putaran propeller (n_propeller) sebesar 674 rpm (gearbox ratio 1:4,3). Sehingga didapat besar kecepatan dinas yang direkomendasikan sebesar 7,8 knot dengan besar hambatan (RT) 3220,81 N dan thrust (T) 3617,17 N. Penggunaan land use engine pada kapal nelayan sangat tidak ideal dimana modifikasi pada sistem pendingin dan kopling dapat menyebabkan turunya performa dari engine yang digunakan. Sehingga direkomendasikan untuk mengganti engine dengan Yanmar 4JH5E untuk penggunaan engine yang lebih efisien.
