Abstract
This study aims to analyze the performance of the pump in a vacuum evaporator system with and without pressure control in the production of palm sugar. In the system with a pressure controller, the pressure is regulated within a range of -0.68 bar to -0.72 bar, with an automatic on-off pump cycle to save electricity and prevent pump overheating. On the other hand, in the system without a pressure controller, the pump operates continuously without automatic pressure regulation. This study measures energy consumption, evaporation performance, and pressure stability during the 120-minute experiment. The results show that the use of the pressure controller successfully saved 46.15% of the pump's electricity consumption compared to the system without pressure control. Additionally, the system with the pressure controller showed a faster and more stable temperature rise. However, in the system without the pressure controller, a temperature spike occurred at minute 94, causing both systems to reach a temperature of 65°C at the same time, at minute 108. Overall, the study demonstrates that the use of the pressure controller offers significant energy efficiency benefits without compromising performance. This is crucial for the efficient and high-quality production of palm sugar

Additional Information: | Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kinerja pompa pada sistem vacuum evaporator dengan sistem kontrol tekanan dan tanpa kontrol tekanan. Pada sistem dengan pressure controller, tekanan diatur dalam rentang -0,68 bar hingga -0,72 bar, dengan siklus on/off pompa otomatis untuk menghemat konsumsi listrik dan mencegah overheating pada pompa. Sedangkan pada sistem tanpa pressure controller, pompa beroperasi secara berkelanjutan tanpa kontrol otomatis pada tekanan. Penelitian ini mengukur konsumsi energi listrik, performa pemanasan, serta stabilitas tekanan selama percobaan yang berlangsung selama 120 menit. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan penggunaan pressure controller berhasil menghemat konsumsi energi listrik pompa sebesar 46,15%, dibandingkan dengan sistem tanpa kontrol tekanan. Selain itu, sistem dengan pressure controller menunjukkan kenaikan suhu yang lebih cepat dan stabil. Namun, pada sistem tanpa pressure controller, terjadi lonjakan suhu pada menit ke-94 yang membuat kedua sistem mencapai suhu 65°C pada waktu yang sama, yaitu pada menit ke-108. Secara keseluruhan, penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan pressure controller memberikan keuntungan dalam hal efisiensi energi listrik yang signifikan dan tidak ada peforma yang dikorbankan.
