Abstract

Indonesia is a country that has vast agricultural land. Based on data from the Central Statistics Agency for 2016, rice fields in Indonesia reached 8.19 million hectares. Population census data shows the number of rural residents is 50.21%. Rice straw is a material that is rich in fiber and is a large amount of agricultural waste and has not been widely used. Rice straw contains lignocellulosic fiber, meaning a material containing fiber and lignin. Rice straw as a lignocellulosic bio-mass consists of a mixture of polymer-carbon hydrates, namely cellulose and hemicellulose. where this study obtained the highest tensile strength value of 86.067 MPa with a composition of 80% rice straw fiber and 20% corn starch, cooking time of 120 minutes using a mesh size of 18, and added with 30% PVA, 0.5% mg steart and 1, 5 glycerol, the addition of 20% corn starch and 30% PVA can increase the adhesion of the fiber. the lowest value obtained for this material is 16.9 mpa with a contact angle value of 87 degrees, and the highest value is 86.067 mpa, this value has increased compared to styrofoam material where the tensile strength value is 2.2 mpa. keywords: rice straw, waste, plastic, trash

Additional Information: Negara indonesia merupakan negara yang memiliki lahan pertanian yang begitu luas. berdasarkan data badan pusat statistik tahun 2016, untuk lahan sawah di indonesia mencapai 8,19 juta hektar. data sensus penduduk menunjukkan jumlah penduduk pedesaan 50,21 %. jerami padi adalah suatu material yang kaya akan serat dan merupakan limbah pertanian yang cukup besar jumlahnmya dan belum banyak dimanfaatkan. jerami padi mengandung serat berligno selulosik, artinya sutau bahan yang mengandung serat dan lignin. jerami padi sebagai bio massa lignoselulosa terdiri atas campuran polimerkarbonhidrat yaitu selulosa dan hemiselulosa. dimana penelitian ini diperoleh nilai kekuatan tarik tertinggi sebesar 86,067 mpa dengan komposisi serat jerami padi 80% dan pati jagung 20%, waktu pemasakan selama 120 menit menggunakan mesh ukuran 18, dan ditambah dengan 30% pva, 0,5% mg steart dan 1,5 gliserol, penambahan 20% pati jagung dan 30% pva dapat meningkatkan daya rekat pada serat. diperoleh nilai terendah pada material ini sebesar 16,9 mpa dengan nilai sudut kontak 87 derajat, dan nilai tertinggi yaitu 86,067 mpa, nilai tersebut mengalami peningkatan jika dibandingkan dengan material styrofoam dimana nilai kekuatan tariknya sebesar 2,2 mpa. kata kunci : jerami padi, limbah, plastik, sampah
