Abstract
Since the reformation of 1998, ethnic Chinese in Indonesia began to dare to declared their "jatidirinya" after more three decades of experiencing various discriminatory treatment, through Presidential Decree no. 6/2000, ethnic Chinese in Indonesia have freedom in practicing Chinese culture and participate in national politics. The ethnic Chinese participation in national politics is seen in their participation in various social and political organizations at local and national level. Yet twenty years after the reformation, changes in national politics and economics have had an impact on ethnic Chinese political participation. Therefore, the focus of this paper is to describe the ethnic Chinese participation in national politics and its changes especially post-reformation. The purpose of the study is to explain the changing role of ethnic Chinese in national politics. This research used document study method with qualitative approach. The findings of this research are, increasing ethnic Chinese role on various social-politics organization and more freedom for ethnic Chinese to canalize their political rights.
