Abstract
Emotional intelligence is emotional ability that covers self-control ability, endurance when facing a problem, self-motivated, ability to set the mood, ability to empathize and building relationships with others. Emotional intelligence could put someone’s emotion proportional and set the mood right. Mood coordination is the core of good social relationship. If the children can adapt their self with their mood and empathize others then they have good emotional level and easier to adapt their self to social interaction and environment. One of the activities that could enhance emotional intelligence is through storytelling activity. The selection of storytelling method because it is appropriate with children who like to do more fun learning activities. The objective of the research is to enhance emotional intelligence of 4-5 years children. Applied method research is action research. Subject of the research are 9 children from TK Islam Citra Mandiri Banjar Agung that located at Banjar Agung Estate block F5 No. 15 Cipocok Jaya districts, Serang City, Banten Province. Data collection techniques are observation, interview, field report and documentation. The implementation of the research done in 2 cycles, first cycle consists of 8 actions and second cycle consists of 3 actions. The results of this research note that: 1) children’s emotional intelligence pre research are 30%, 2) children’s emotional intelligence after first cycle treatment are increase to 42%, 3) after second cycle treatment resulted 81%. Therefore children’s emotional intelligence is increase and develops as expected. It can be concluded that storytelling method could enhance emotional intelligence of children of group A TK Islam Citra Mandiri Banjar Agung.
