Abstract

This research is motivated by the lack of motivation in learning. In addition, the learning activities are dominated by the teacher so much centered learning activities for teachers (Teacher Center) and not to the student. (Student Center) in Indonesian learning resulting in a lack of low student achievement. The purpose of this study was to determine to know the results of the application of the approach in learning Indonesian CTL on the concept of narrative essay material in improving student achievement and to determine how students' learning activities using CTL approach. This study uses a class action research conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consists of planning, implementation, observation and reflection. Data collection techniques in this study using the test and notes. The test is in the form of objective test consists of multiple-choice tests and test Stuffing. While notes consists of observation and interviews. Based on research that has been done, there is an increase in student achievement and activity occurs every cycle. In the first cycle of activities students get a percentage of 78%. Then in the second cycle of increasing student activity by 92%. In addition, increase student achievement has increased each cycle, the cycle begins with the acquisition of pre average reached 62.17 and in the first cycle to get the average value of 67.53 with a percentage of 79.48% after the second cycle increase student achievement reaching an average of 73.02 with a percentage of 89.74% with a minimum completeness criteria (KKM) 65. The conclusion of this study stated that the application of CTL approach can increase student achievement in learning Indonesian in narrative essay on the concept of Class IV Elementary School students Jiput 2 Pandeglang, Banten.
