Abstract
Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis dan self confidence siswa, sehingga diperlukan suatu usaha untuk meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis dan self confidence siswa. Salah satu usaha yang dapat dilakukan adalah penerapan model Problem Based Learning (PBL). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pencapaian akhir dan peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis dan self confidence siswa yang mendapatkan pembelajaran dengan model problem based learning dan model pembelajaran biasa. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode kuasi eksperimen dengan non-equivalent control group design. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 7 Cilegon tahun ajaran 2018/2019. Teknik pengambilan sampel pada penelitian ini menggunakan teknik purposive sampling dan dua kelas diambil sebagai sampel penelitian. Data penelitian diperoleh dengan menggunakan instrumen tes kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis dan instrumen non tes skala self confidence. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pencapaian akhir dan peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis dan self confidence siswa dengan model problem based learning lebih baik daripada siswa yang mendapatkan pembelajaran biasa.

| Additional Information: | This research was conducted by the low ability of mathematical problem solving and student self confidence, it meant that an effort was needed to improve mathematical problem solving ability and student self confidence. The effort that can be made is the application of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model. This study aims to determine the final achievement and improvement of mathematical problem solving ability and students self confidence who obtained problem based learning model and regular learning model. The research method used was the quasi-experimental method with non-equivalent control group design. The population in this study is all students of class VIII SMPN 7 Cilegon academic year 2018/2019. Determination of the sample using purposive sampling technique and two classes of eight class were taken as samples. The research data was obtained using a test instrument for mathematical problem solving ability and non-test instruments for self confidence scale. The result of the research showed that the final achievement and improvement of mathematical problem solving ability and students self confidence by using problem based learning models was better than the students who obtained regular learning. | |||||||||
