Abstract
This study aims to determine public perceptions of young legislative candidates in the 2024 Election in Electoral District (Dapil) 5 of Serang Regency. Furthermore, it aims to identify factors influencing these perceptions. This research aims to provide a comprehensive picture of how the public views the presence of young legislative candidates in political contests and their level of acceptance of young figures in local politics. This research employed a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Data collection involved in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation of residents in Electoral District 5 of Serang Regency. Data analysis involved three main stages: data reduction, data presentation, and inductive conclusion drawing, to gain an objective and comprehensive understanding of community perceptions. The research results show that public perceptions of young legislative candidates are diverse, but generally tend to be positive. Most view young candidates as representing a new generation who bring a spirit of change, possess innovative ideas, and are more open to public aspirations. They are also perceived as capable of fostering closer communication through the use of social media and involvement in social activities. However, some members of the public remain skeptical of the capabilities of young candidates, believing them to be inexperienced and immature in facing practical political challenges. Factors influencing these perceptions include the level of political education, the public's experience in the political process, the intensity of interaction with young candidates, and the influence of the local social and political culture.

| Additional Information: | Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui persepsi masyarakat terhadap calon legislatif muda pada Pemilu tahun 2024 di Daerah Pemilihan (Dapil) 5 Kabupaten Serang. Selain itu, penelitian ini juga bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi faktor-faktor yang memengaruhi pembentukan persepsi masyarakat tersebut. Melalui penelitian ini diharapkan dapat diperoleh gambaran yang komprehensif mengenai bagaimana masyarakat memandang kehadiran calon legislatif muda dalam kontestasi politik serta sejauh mana tingkat penerimaan mereka terhadap figur muda dalam dunia politik lokal. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui wawancara mendalam, observasi, dan dokumentasi terhadap masyarakat di Dapil 5 Kabupaten Serang. Analisis data dilakukan melalui tiga tahapan utama, yaitu reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan secara induktif, guna memperoleh pemahaman yang objektif dan menyeluruh terhadap persepsi masyarakat. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa persepsi masyarakat terhadap calon legislatif muda bersifat beragam, namun secara umum cenderung positif. Sebagian besar masyarakat menilai caleg muda sebagai representasi generasi baru yang membawa semangat perubahan, memiliki gagasan yang inovatif, dan lebih terbuka terhadap aspirasi masyarakat. Mereka juga dianggap mampu menjalin komunikasi yang lebih dekat melalui pemanfaatan media sosial dan keterlibatan dalam kegiatan sosial. Meski demikian, terdapat sebagian masyarakat yang masih ragu terhadap kemampuan caleg muda karena dianggap kurang berpengalaman dan belum matang dalam menghadapi tantangan politik praktis. Faktor-faktor yang memengaruhi persepsi tersebut meliputi tingkat pendidikan politik, pengalaman masyarakat dalam mengikuti proses politik, intensitas interaksi dengan caleg muda, serta pengaruh lingkungan sosial dan budaya politik setempat. | |||||||||
