Abstract
The development of the modern world of work requires employees to face an increasingly high cognitive load, so managing the mental workload is important. Excessive mental workload can have an impact on decreased performance and increased mental fatigue. The difference in working time, especially between morning and evening, has the potential to affect the level of mental workload due to accumulated fatigue and work pressure. This study aims to measure the level of mental workload of PT XYZ employees during morning and evening working hours using the Simplified-Subjective Workload Assessment Technique (S-SWAT) method, analyze the difference in mental workload between working hours, identify the most dominant dimensions of mental workload, and formulate improvement proposals. This study uses a quantitative approach with a comparative design. Data collection was carried out on 20 permanent employees from several divisions with measurements in the morning (08.00-12.00) and afternoon (13.00-17.00) working hours. Data analysis was carried out using descriptive statistics, normality test and Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. The results showed that the average mental workload during morning work time was in the medium category, while in the afternoon working time it was in the high category. There was a significant difference (p < 0.05) between morning and evening mental workload. The Mental Effort Load (MEL) dimension is the most dominant dimension. Based on these results, the direction of proposed improvements was given that focused on managing the dominant dimensions of mental workload, especially Mental Effort Load and Psychological Stress Load.

| Additional Information: | Perkembangan dunia kerja modern menuntut karyawan untuk menghadapi beban kognitif yang semakin tinggi, sehingga pengelolaan beban kerja mental menjadi hal yang penting. Beban kerja mental yang berlebihan dapat berdampak pada penurunan kinerja dan meningkatnya kelelahan mental. Perbedaan waktu kerja, khususnya antara pagi dan sore, berpotensi memengaruhi tingkat beban kerja mental akibat akumulasi kelelahan dan tekanan pekerjaan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengukur tingkat beban kerja mental karyawan PT XYZ pada waktu kerja pagi dan sore menggunakan metode Simplified-Subjective Workload Assessment Technique (S-SWAT), menganalisis perbedaan beban kerja mental antar waktu kerja, mengidentifikasi dimensi beban kerja mental yang paling dominan, serta merumuskan usulan perbaikan. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitaif dengan desain komparatif. Pengambilan data dilakukan terhadap 20 karyawan tetap dari beberapa divisi dengan pengukuran pada waktu kerja pagi (08.00-12.00) dan sore (13.00-17.00). Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan statistic deskriptif, uji normalitas dan uji Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata beban kerja mental pada waktu kerja pagi berada pada kategori sedang, sedangkan pada waktu kerja sore berada pada kategori tinggi. Terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan (p < 0.05) antara beban kerja mental pagi dan sore. Dimensi Mental Effort Load (MEL) merupakan dimensi yang paling dominan. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut, diberikan arah usulan perbaikan yang difokuskan pada pengelolaan dimensi dominan beban kerja mental, khususnya Mental Effort Load dan Psychological Stress Load. | ||||||
