Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness and influence of implementing the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model assisted by ChatGPT on students' mathematical concept understanding of Systems of Linear Equations in Two Variables (SPLDV) at SMPN 38 Kota Bekasi. The background of this research is based on the low level of students' conceptual understanding identified from suboptimal learning outcomes, as well as the need for integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology to overcome students' learning obstacles personally. This study employed a quasi-experimental method with a Nonequivalent Control Group Design. Data collection techniques used essay test instruments (pretest and posttest) that have been tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis techniques utilized descriptive statistics and the non-parametric Mann-Whitney U hypothesis test. The results indicated that the improvement in mathematical concept understanding of students who received learning with the ChatGPT-assisted PBL model was significantly higher compared to students who received learning with the PBL model without ChatGPT assistance. This is evidenced by the average NGain score of the experimental class, which falls into the high category, while the control class is in the low category. Thus, the ChatGPT-assisted PBL model is proven effective in accelerating students' mathematical concept understanding.

Additional Information: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas dan pengaruh penerapan model pembelajaran Problem Based Learning (PBL) berbantuan ChatGPT terhadap kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis siswa pada materi Sistem Persamaan Linear Dua Variabel (SPLDV) di SMPN 38 Kota Bekasi. Latar belakang penelitian ini didasarkan pada rendahnya kemampuan pemahaman konsep siswa yang teridentifikasi dari hasil belajar yang belum optimal, serta perlunya integrasi teknologi kecerdasan buatan (Artificial Intelligence) untuk mengatasi hambatan belajar siswa secara personal. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuasi eksperimen (quasi-experiment) dengan desain Nonequivalent Control Group Design. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan instrumen tes berbentuk uraian (pretest dan posttest) yang telah teruji validitas dan reliabilitasnya. Teknik analisis data menggunakan statistik deskriptif dan uji hipotesis non-parametrik Mann Whitney U. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa peningkatan pemahaman konsep matematis siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran dengan model PBL berbantuan ChatGPT lebih tinggi secara signifikan dibandingkan dengan siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran dengan model PBL tanpa bantuan ChatGPT. Hal ini dibuktikan dengan rata-rata skor N-Gain kelas eksperimen yang termasuk dalam kategori tinggi, sedangkan kelas kontrol berada pada kategori rendah. Dengan demikian, model PBL berbantuan ChatGPT terbukti efektif dalam mengakselerasi pemahaman konsep matematis siswa.
