Abstract
This study investigated the effectiveness of Wordwall as a digital learning media to improve students’ reading comprehension. The research applied a quantitative approach with quasi experiment design. The population of this study consisted of all 8th grade students of junior high school located in Petir, Serang, a total of 66 students from class 8-J and 8-I with 33 students per-class were chosen as the sample to represent the population. Data were collected through reading comprehension tests, and the data were analyzed using a t-test. The hypothesis testing revealed that whether there was a significant difference between the two groups. The results of significant 0.05, degree of freedom (df) 64, the calculated t-value was 7.309 and the t-table was 2.000. It mean that the calculated higher than t-table it can be infered that the null hypothesis (H₀) stating that Wordwall has no effect was rejected, and the alternative hypothesis (Hₐ) stating that Wordwall significantly improves reading comprehension was accepted. Wordwall was proven to have a significant positive impact on students’ reading comprehension. Thus, the study concludes that Wordwall can serve as an interactive and gamified learning tool an alternative to learning media and digital literacy. | Additional Information: | Penelitian ini meneliti efektivitas Wordwall sebagai media pembelajaran digital untuk meningkatkan pemahaman membaca siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain kuasi-eksperimen. Populasi penelitian terdiri dari seluruh siswa kelas 8 di salah satu SMP yang berlokasi di Petir, Serang. Sebanyak 66 siswa dari kelas 8-J dan 8-I, masing-masing 33 siswa per kelas, dipilih sebagai sampel untuk mewakili populasi. Data dikumpulkan melalui tes pemahaman membaca, dan dianalisis menggunakan uji t. Pengujian hipotesis menunjukkan adanya perbedaan yang signifikan antara kedua kelompok. Dengan tingkat signifikansi 0,05 dan derajat kebebasan (df) 64, nilai t-hitung adalah 7,309 dan t-tabel adalah 2,000. Ini berarti nilai t-hitung lebih besar daripada t-tabel, sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa hipotesis nol (H₀) yang menyatakan bahwa Wordwall tidak memiliki pengaruh ditolak, dan hipotesis alternatif (Hₐ) yang menyatakan bahwa Wordwall secara signifikan meningkatkan pemahaman membaca diterima. Wordwall terbukti memiliki dampak positif yang signifikan terhadap pemahaman membaca siswa. Dengan demikian, penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa Wordwall dapat menjadi alat pembelajaran interaktif dan bergamifikasi sebagai alternatif media pembelajaran dan literasi digital.
