Abstract

Reading Comprehension is an important aspect in learning English, but it is still an obstacle for tenth grade students at SMAN 8 Pandeglang, which is indicated by the average student score of final semester exams in the year 2024/2025 only 37.16. This research aims to determine the influence of Treasure Hunt game by using Actionbound application on students' reading comprehension. The research used a quantitative method with a quasi-experimental design of the non-equivalent control group type. The sample consisted of two classes selected through cluster random sampling techniques, each consisting of 30 students. The research instrument was a pretest and posttest in the form of multiple choices that had been tested for validity and reliability. The results of the research showed an increasing of students’ score in experimental class from an average of 74.33 in the pre-test to 88.67 in the post-test and from 74.00 to 78.17 of students’ score in control class. The Wilcoxon and Mann-Whitney U statistics showed a significance value below 0.05, which means there was a significant influence. It can be concluded that the use of the Treasure Hunt game through Actionbound is effective in improving students' reading comprehension, and can be an alternative to interesting and interactive learning media.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh permainan Treasure Hunt dengan menggunakan aplikasi Actionbound terhadap kemampuan pemahaman membaca siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan desain kuasi-eksperimen jenis non-equivalent control group. Sampel terdiri dari dua kelas yang dipilih melalui teknik cluster random sampling, masing-masing berjumlah 30 siswa. Instrumen penelitian berupa pretest dan posttest dalam bentuk pilihan ganda yang telah diuji validitas dan reliabilitasnya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan nilai siswa di kelas eksperimen dari rata-rata 74,33 pada pretest menjadi 88,67 pada posttest, dan dari 74,00 menjadi 78,17 pada kelas kontrol. Statistik Wilcoxon dan Mann-Whitney U menunjukkan nilai signifikansi di bawah 0,05, yang berarti terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan permainan Treasure Hunt melalui Actionbound efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan pemahaman membaca siswa, serta dapat menjadi alternatif media pembelajaran yang menarik dan interaktif.
