Abstract

This research was with the aim of overcoming the decline in red chili (Capsicum annuum L.) plant productivity in Banten Province, Indonesia, by evaluating the effect of biofertilizer derived from photosynthetic bacteria and different chili varieties on plant growth and yield. The study took place from January to June 2025 in Bukit Kawi Permai, Kramatwatu, Serang, using a Randomized Complete Block Design with two factors, four concentrations of biofertilizer photosynthetic bacteria (0 mL/L, 10 mL/L, 20 mL/L, and 30 mL/L) and two hybrid varieties (Tangguh F1 and Iggo Tavi F1). Observed parameters included plant height, leaf number, stem diameter, chlorophyll content, dry weight, root-shoot ratio, fruit number, fruit diameter, fruit length, and total fruit weight per plant. Results showed that while most treatments did not yield statistically significant differences, biofertilizer photosynthetic bacteria at 20 mL/L significantly increased fruit length (10,96 cm) and biofertilizer photosynthetic bacteria at 10 mL/L significantly increased root-shoot ratio (11,39 g). The Iggo Tavi F1 variety demonstrated superior performance in plant height, leaf number, and fruit count, whereas Tangguh F1 showed higher chlorophyll content and fruit length. No significant interaction was found between biofertilizer photosynthetic bacteria concentration and variety. These findings suggest that biofertilizer photosynthetic bacteria at higher concentrations and appropriate varietal selection can enhance specific growth and yield parameters of red chili, although further research is needed to optimize nutrient availability and microbial balance in the growing medium.

Parameter yang diamati meliputi tinggi tanaman, jumlah daun, diameter batang, kandungan klorofil, berat kering, rasio akar-tunas, jumlah buah, diameter buah, panjang buah, dan berat buah total per tanaman. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sementara sebagian besar perlakuan tidak menghasilkan perbedaan yang signifikan secara statistik, bakteri fotosintetik biofertilizer pada 20 mL/L secara signifikan meningkatkan panjang buah (10,96 cm) dan bakteri fotosintetik biofertilizer pada 10 mL/L secara signifikan meningkatkan rasio akar-tunas (11,39 g). Varietas Iggo Tavi F1 menunjukkan kinerja yang unggul dalam tinggi tanaman, jumlah daun, dan jumlah buah, sedangkan Tangguh F1 menunjukkan kandungan klorofil dan panjang buah yang lebih tinggi. Tidak ditemukan interaksi yang signifikan antara konsentrasi bakteri fotosintetik biofertilizer dan varietas. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa bakteri fotosintetik biofertilizer pada konsentrasi yang lebih tinggi dan pemilihan varietas yang tepat dapat meningkatkan parameter pertumbuhan dan hasil spesifik cabai merah, meskipun penelitian lebih lanjut diperlukan untuk mengoptimalkan ketersediaan nutrisi dan keseimbangan mikroba dalam media tanam.
