Abstract
This study analyzes the representation of the struggle for gender equality in the film Penyalin Cahaya (Photocopier) directed by Wregas Bhanuteja. Using Roland Barthes’ semiotic method, data were obtained through film observation, interviews, and documentation by analyzing the denotative, connotative, and mythological meanings found in the film. The results, base d on Barthes' framework, show that the character Suryani (Sur) represents a woman who bravely resists patriarchal power and exposes a silenced case of sexual violence. Symbols such as traditional clothing, a photocopy machine, and light carry deep meanings that illustrate this struggle. The roles of Tariq, Farah, and the support of the masses emphasize the importance of solidarity in resisting power relations. The film reflects a social reality in which gender equality remains a collective struggle. The myths revealed in the film include: 1. Clothing as a trigger for sexual harassment, 2. Power as the guardian of morality, 3. Technology as a neutral and impartial tool, 4. Victims’ voices are exaggerated and untrustworthy, 5. Only women can be victims, and women are always weak.

| Additional Information: | Penelitian ini menganalisis representasi perjuangan merebut kesetaraan gender dalam film Penyalin Cahaya karya Wregas Bhanuteja. Menggunakan metode semiotika Roland Barthes, data diperoleh melalui observasi film, wawancara, dan dokumentasi dengan menganalisis makna konotasi, denotasi serta mitos yang terdapat dalam film Penyalin Cahaya. Adapun hasil penelitian dengan menganalisis pemikiran Roland Barthes menunjukkan bahwa tokoh Suryani (Sur) merepresentasikan perempuan yang berani melawan kekuasaan patriarkal dan membongkar kasus kekerasan seksual yang dibungkam. Simbol seperti pakaian adat, mesin fotokopi, dan cahaya memiliki makna mendalam dalam menggambarkan perjuangan tersebut. Peran Tariq, Farah, dan dukungan massa menegaskan pentingnya solidaritas dalam melawan relasi kuasa. Film ini mencerminkan kondisi sosial di mana kesetaraan gender masih menjadi perjuangan kolektif. Adapun mitos yang berhasil ditemukan dalam film ini ialah 1. Pakaian sebagai pemicu pelecehan seksual, 2. Kekuasaan sebagai pelindung moralitas, 3. Teknologi adalah sarana netral dan tidak memihak, 4. Suara korban dianggap berlebihan, tidak bisa dipercaya, 5. Korban harus perempuan dan perempuan selalu lemah. | |||||||||
