Abstract
The presence of greenhouse gases (GHGs) not only contributes to air pollution but also triggers global warming. The largest contributor to greenhouse gases comes from CO2 emissions, at 72%. According to Indonesian Energy Outlook (IEO) data (2010), CO2 emissions are primarily generated by coal-fired energy-producing industries, compared to other energy sources. In 2010, coal accounted for 50.1% of carbon dioxide emissions, while natural gas and oil accounted for 26% and 23.9%, respectively. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of NaOH concentration, temperature, and CO2 flow rate on sodium carbonate formation, which efficiently forms the product in the reaction between NaOH and CO2 gas. This study also aimed to determine a mathematical model based on NaOH conversion. The study was conducted in a semi-batch manner, with CO2 flowing continuously at a rate of 2 liters per minute (lpm) under hydrostatic pressure at a water level of 100 cm and a contact time of 30 minutes. NaOH concentrations of 10%, 20%, and 30% were used at temperatures of 30°C, 40°C, and 50°C, and were homogenized at stirring speeds of 200 and 300 rpm to obtain sodium carbonate (Na2CO3) using the carbonation method. This study obtained the best results under stirring conditions at 300 rpm, 30% concentration, and a temperature of 50°C, yielding a product volume of 16.43 grams.

Penyumbang gas rumah kaca terbesar berasal dari emisi gas CO2 72%. Emisi gas CO2 berdasarkan data Indonesian Energy Outlook (IEO) (2010) paling besar dihasilkan dari indsutri penghasil energi berbahan bakar batu bara, dibandingkan dengan jenis energi lainnya. Pada tahun 2010, emisi karbon dioksida yang dihasilkan oleh batu bara sebesar 50,1%, sedangkan emisi karbon dioksida yang dihasilkan oleh gas alam dan minyak bumi adalah berturut-turut sebesar 26% dan 23,9%. Tujuan dari penelitian ini .untuk menganalisa pengaruh pembentukan produk Natrium karbonat pada konsentrasi NaOH, temperatur, dan laju alir CO2 yang terbentuk secara efisien pada reaksi antara NaOH dengan gas CO2 serta menentukan model matematika berbasis konversi NaOH . Penelitian dilakukan secara semi batch, yaitu CO2 dialirkan secara kontinyu dengan laju 2 liter/menit (lpm) beserta tekanan hidrostatis pada ketinggian air 100 cm dan waktu kontak 30 menit dengan konsentrasi NaOH 10%, 20% dan 30% pada suhu 30℃, 40℃, 50℃ yang di homogenkan pada kecepataan pengadukan 200 rpm dan 300 rpm untuk mendapatkan produk Natrium Karbonat (Na2CO3) dengan menggunakan metode karbonasi. Pada penelitian ini mendapatkan hasil dengan kondisi terbaik pada pengadukan 300 rpm, konsentrasi 30% dan temperatur 50˚C dengan mendapatkan jumlah produk sebesar 16,43 gr. | ||||||
