Abstract

Directive speech acts and linguistic politeness are essential components of verbal interaction in educational settings, particularly within the context of teaching and learning activities. As a formal educational institution, the school plays a strategic role in cultivating polite speech habits among students, both in peer interactions and in communication between students and teachers. This study aims to analyze and understand the realization of politeness in directive speech acts at SMP Tunas Bangsa Gading Serpong. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach, utilizing the Simak Bebas Libat Cakap (SBLC) method along with recording and note-taking techniques for data collection. The data source comprises all school members involved in speech events containing directive utterances. Based on the analysis, a total of 45 directive utterances were identified, representing six types of directive speech acts: requests, questions, commands, prohibitions, permissions, and advice. The findings indicate that the use of interrogative utterances with questioning functions is the most dominant, reflecting a communication pattern that emphasizes politeness and openness in the learning process. Additionally, various directive functions were identified, including requesting, pleading, praying, demanding, inviting, questioning, interrogating, desiring, instructing, criticizing, prohibiting, limiting, preventing, approving, permitting, granting, forgiving, advising, and suggesting. This study provides a comprehensive overview of politeness practices in directive speech acts within the school environment, highlighting how values of courtesy are internalized through language in everyday interactions. Thus, the findings contribute to the sociopragmatic study of language in educational contexts and serve as a reference for developing communication-based learning strategies that prioritize ethical and respectful discourse.

Additional Information: Tindak tutur direktif dan kesantunan berbahasa merupakan unsur penting dalam interaksi verbal di lingkungan pendidikan, khususnya dalam konteks kegiatan belajar mengajar. Sekolah, sebagai lembaga pendidikan formal, memegang peran strategis dalam membentuk kebiasaan bertutur yang santun bagi peserta didik, baik dalam interaksi antarsiswa maupun antara siswa dan guru. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis dan memahami realisasi kesantunan dalam tindak tutur direktif yang terjadi di lingkungan SMP Tunas Bangsa Gading Serpong. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui metode Simak Bebas Libat Cakap (SBLC), serta dilengkapi dengan teknik rekam dan catat. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini mencakup seluruh warga sekolah yang terlibat dalam peristiwa tutur, dengan fokus pada interaksi yang mengandung tindak tutur direktif. Berdasarkan hasil analisis, ditemukan sebanyak 45 data tuturan direktif yang mencerminkan enam jenis tindak tutur, yaitu: permintaan, pertanyaan, perintah, larangan, pemberian izin, dan nasihat. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa jenis pertanyaan dengan fungsi bertanya merupakan bentuk tuturan yang paling dominan digunakan, mencerminkan pola komunikasi yang cenderung sopan dan terbuka dalam proses pembelajaran. Selain itu, penelitian ini juga mengidentifikasi beragam fungsi tindak tutur direktif, yang mencakup fungsi permintaan, memohon, berdoa, meminta dan menuntut, meminta dan mengajak, bertanya, menginterogasi, menghendaki, menuntut, menginstruksikan, mengkritik, melarang, membatasi, mencegah, menyetujui, membolehkan, menganugerahi, memaafkan, menasihati, dan menyarankan. Hasil penelitian ini memberikan gambaran komprehensif mengenai praktik kesantunan dalam tindak tutur direktif di lingkungan sekolah, serta menunjukkan bagaimana nilai-nilai sopan santun diinternalisasi melalui bahasa dalam interaksi sehari-hari. Dengan demikian, penelitian ini berkontribusi pada kajian sosiopragmatik dalam konteks pendidikan dan dapat menjadi rujukan untuk pengembangan pembelajaran yang mengedepankan etika komunikasi.
