Abstract

This research aimed to determine the effect of apical pruning time on the type of mulch on the growth and yield of curly red chili (Capsicum annuum L.) plants. This research was conducted from January to May 2023 at the garden of the Agricultural Research and Technology Assessment Installation, Pagedangan District, Tangerang Regency, Banten. The experiment used a split plot design with two factors. The first factor consisted of three mulch treatments: no mulch, rice straw mulch, and black and silver plastic mulch. The second factor consisted of four levels of apical pruning: at 1, 3, 5, and 7 Week After Planting (WAP). There were 12 treatment combinations with four replications, resulting in 48 experimental units. The results showed that mulch treatment had a very real and significant effect on plant height at 4 and 6 WAP, a very real effect on stem diameter at 6 WAP, a real effect on the number of leaves at 2 and 6 WAP and a very real effect at 4 and 8 WAP, a real effect on fruit length, a very real effect on fruit weight per plant, and a real effect on fruit diameter. While the treatment of shoot pruning time has a very real effect only on plant height at 8 weeks after planting, the number of fruits per plant, fruit length, fruit weight per plant and fruit diameter.

Additional Information: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menentukan pengaruh waktu pemangkasan apikal terhadap jenis mulsa terhadap pertumbuhan dan hasil tanaman cabai merah keriting (Capsicum annuum L.). Penelitian ini dilakukan dari Januari hingga Mei 2023 di kebun Instalasi Penelitian dan Pengkajian Teknologi Pertanian, Kecamatan Pagedangan, Kabupaten Tangerang, Banten. Eksperimen menggunakan rancangan split plot dengan dua faktor. Faktor pertama terdiri dari tiga perlakuan mulsa: tanpa mulsa, mulsa jerami padi, dan mulsa plastik hitam dan perak. Faktor kedua terdiri dari empat taraf pemangkasan pucuk: pada 1, 3, 5, dan 7 MST. Terdapat 12 kombinasi perlakuan dengan empat ulangan, menghasilkan 48 unit percobaan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan mulsa berpengaruh sangat nyata dan nyata pada tinggi tanaman umur 4 dan 6 MST, berpengaruh sangat nyata pada diameter batang umur 6 MST, berpengaruh nyata pada jumlah daun umur 2 dan 6 MST dan berpengaruh sangat nyata pada umur 4 dan 8 MST, berpengaruh nyata pada panjang buah, berpengaruh sangat nyata pada bobot buah per tanaman, dan berpengaruh nyata pada diameter buah. Sedangkan perlakuan waktu pemangkasan pucuk berpengaruh sangat nyata hanya pada tinggi tanaman umur 8 MST, jumlah buah per tanaman, panjang buah, bobot buah per tanaman dan diameter buah.
