Abstract
Technological transformation in television news production processes has undergone significant changes. The application of game engine technology, specifically Unreal Engine, in news production processes has sparked innovation for television media practitioners to deliver more immersive and interactive news visualizations. This research aims to examine the use of Unreal Engine technology in the production process of the Metropedia program in presenting immersive news content. This study adopts the theory of Immersive Journalism through a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data collection techniques were conducted through in-depth interviews, observation, documentation studies, and literature review. The informants in this research consist of the Metropedia production team and the audience (viewers) of the Metropedia program. The results of this research explain that the production process of the Metropedia program consists of three stages: pre-production, production, and post-production. In the pre-production stage, issue selection, in-depth research, and storyboard design are conducted as production guidelines. In the production stage, presenter footage is captured (taping) in a virtual studio integrated with Unreal Engine technology to create dynamic 3D visual environments and animations. The final post-production stage involves adjustments to effects and audio as well as quality control (QC) for content finalization. Metropedia relies on strong team coordination in each stage of the production process.

| Additional Information: | Transformasi teknologi dalam proses produksi berita di televisi telah mengalami perubahan signifikan. Penerapan teknologi game engine yaitu Unreal Engine dalam proses produksi berita memantik inovasi bagi penggiat media televisi untuk menghadirkan visualisasi berita yang lebih mendalam (imersif) dan juga interaktif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui penggunaan teknologi Unreal Engine dalam proses produksi program Metropedia dalam menghadirkan konten berita yang imersif. Penelitian ini mengadopsi teori Jurnalisme Imersif melalui pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus, teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan wawancara mendalam, observasi, studi dokumentasi dan studi literatur. Informan dalam penelitian ini terdiri dari tim produksi Metropedia dan juga audiens (penonton) program Metropedia. Hasil penelitian ini menjelaskan bahwa proses produksi program Metropedia terdiri dari tiga tahapan, yaitu praproduksi, produksi, dan pasca-produksi (post-pro). Pada tahapan pra-produksi dilakukan dengan pemilihan isu, riset mendalam, serta perancangan storyboard sebagai panduan produksi. Pada tahapan produksi dilakukan pengambilan gambar (taping) presenter di virtual studio terintegrasi dengan teknologi Unreal Engine untuk menciptakan lingkungan visual 3D dan animasi yang dinamis. Tahapan akhir pasca-produksi dilakukan penyesuaian efek dan audio sera quality control (QC) untuk finalisasi hasil konten berita. Metropedia mengandalkan koordinasi tim yang solid dalam setiap tahapan proses produksi tersebut. | ||||||
