Abstract
The purpose of this study is to analyze the constructed meanings through family communication and the communication patterns presented in the film. This study employs Roland Barthes' semiotic analysis method, which includes three levels of meaning: denotative, connotative, and myth. The denotative analysis shows daily family interactions such as discussions, shared meals, and decision-making. At the connotative level, it illustrates powerrelations, role demands, and conflicts between parental expectations and children's desires. On the myth level, the film reflects Javanese culture that positions the family as the guardian of honor, children as obliged to obey, and women as ideal protectors of purity and family dignity. The dominant communication pattern depicted in the film is the monopoly pattern, where Bu Broto, as the mother figure, holds control over family decision-making. The film interestingly portrays female dominance. Towards the end, the communication pattern transforms from authoritarian to more open, empathetic, and accepting. This process indicates that the construction of meaning in family communication is dynamic, influenced by culture, power relations, and emotional development within the family.

| Additional Information: | Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis makna yang terkonstruksi melalui komunikasi keluarga serta pola komunikasi yang muncul dalam film. Penelitian menggunakan metode analisis semiotika Roland Barthes dengan tiga tahapan makna: denotatif, konotatif, dan mitos. Hasil analisis denotatif menunjukkan interaksi sehari-hari dalam keluarga seperti diskusi, makan bersama, dan pengambilan keputusan. Pada tingkat konotatif, tergambar adanya relasi kuasa, tuntutan peran, serta konflik antara harapan orang tua dan keinginan anak. Sedangkan pada mitos, film ini mencerminkan budaya Jawa yang menempatkan keluarga sebagai penjaga kehormatan, anak yang wajib patuh, serta perempuan ideal sebagai penjaga kesucian dan martabat keluarga. Pola komunikasi yang dominan dalam film ini adalah monopoly pattern, di mana Bu Broto sebagai sosok ibu memegang kendali dalam pengambilan keputusan keluarga. Film ini secara menarik menampilkan dominasi perempuan. Di akhir film, terjadi transformasi pola komunikasi dari yang semula otoriter menjadi lebih terbuka, empatik, dan penuh penerimaan. Proses ini menunjukkan bahwa konstruksi makna dalam komunikasi keluarga bersifat dinamis, dipengaruhi budaya, relasi kekuasaan, serta perkembangan emosional di dalam keluarga. | ||||||
