Abstract
Scientific argumentation skills are important skills that need to be developed in the learning process at school. However, the fact is that scientific argumentation skills are still relatively low, characterised by the lack of courage of students in expressing their ideas and opinions. This study aims to analyse the improvement of students' scientific argumentation skills through the application of the anticipation guide reading method on heat material. A Quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method using a non-equivalent control group design was used as the research method. The sample involved two classes, namely the experimental class and the control class. The instrument used was an essay test consisting of five question to measure scientific argumentation skills. The results of the t-test analysis showed a significance value (2-tailed) < 0,05, indicating a difference in the average post-test scores between the experimental and control classes. This findings show that the Anticipation Guide reading method is effective in improving students' scientific argumentation skills.

| Additional Information: | Kemampuan argumentasi ilmiah merupakan kemampuan penting yang perlu terus dikembangkan dalam proses pembelajaran di sekolah. Namun, faktanya kemampuan argumentasi ilmiah ini masih tergolong rendah, ditandai dengan minimnya keberanian peserta didik dalam mengemukakan ide dan pendapat mereka. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peningkatan kemampuan argumentasi ilmiah siswa melalui penerapan metode baca Anticipation Guide pada materi kalor. Pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode quasi eksperimental melalui desain nonequivalent control group digunakan sebagai metode penelitian ini. Sampel melibatkan dua kelas, yakni kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Instrumen yang digunakan berupa tes uraian sebanyak lima soal untuk mengukur kemampuan argumentasi ilmiah. Hasil analisis uji t-test menunjukkan nilai signifikansi (2-tailed) < 0,05, mengindikasikan adanya perbedaan rata-rata nilai post-test siswa antara kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa metode baca Anticipation Guide efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan argumentasi ilmiah siswa. | |||||||||
