Abstract

This study aims to explore learning innovation skills in prospective vocational teachers in the Vocational Education Study Program of Mechanical Engineering (PVTM), Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University. The approach used is qualitative with a case study method. Data was collected through in-depth observation and interviews, using interview guidelines as well as assessment rubrics to maintain the objectivity of the analysis. The research sample was taken from 30% of students who were previously categorized as having low skills based on previous research, on the condition that they had completed the School Field Introduction (PLP) course. The results of the study show that the classification is not entirely accurate. Some students who are classified as "low" actually show good competence in innovative skills such as creative thinking, collaboration, communication, and problem-solving. These findings show that PVTM students have potential that is worthy of being developed as vocational teachers who are adaptive to the challenges of 21st century learning. Strengthening holistic learning and evaluation strategies is needed to optimize their abilities.

Additional Information: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi keterampilan inovasi pembelajaran (learning innovation skills) pada calon guru kejuruan di Program Studi Pendidikan Vokasional Teknik Mesin (PVTM), Universitas Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa. Pendekatan yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi dan wawancara mendalam, menggunakan pedoman wawancara serta rubrik penilaian untuk menjaga objektivitas analisis. Sampel penelitian diambil dari 30% mahasiswa yang sebelumnya dikategorikan memiliki keterampilan rendah berdasarkan penelitian terdahulu, dengan syarat telah menyelesaikan mata kuliah Pengenalan Lapangan Persekolahan (PLP). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa klasifikasi tersebut tidak sepenuhnya akurat. Beberapa mahasiswa yang tergolong “rendah” justru menunjukkan kompetensi yang baik dalam keterampilan inovatif seperti berpikir kreatif, kolaborasi, komunikasi, dan pemecahan masalah.Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa mahasiswa PVTM memiliki potensi yang layak dikembangkan sebagai guru kejuruan yang adaptif terhadap tantangan pembelajaran abad 21. Penguatan strategi pembelajaran dan evaluasi yang holistik sangat dibutuhkan untuk mengoptimalkan kemampuan mereka
