Abstract

Critical and creative thinking skills are very important for vocational high school students because they help in solving problems, making the right decisions, and innovating in the world of work. With critical thinking skills, students can develop creative views and innovative solutions. This study aims to determine the level of critical and creative thinking skills of students of Mechanical Engineering Vocational High Schools. This study is a survey study with 100 students of Mechanical Engineering Vocational High Schools as subjects. This study uses data collection techniques by distributing essay test sheets to all students of mechanical engineering expertise programs. Data analysis techniques use quantitative approach methods with descriptive statistics. The results of the study show that: (1). The average level of students' critical thinking skills is low. The low level of critical thinking skills possessed by students is due to the learning process that is less effective in developing the interests, talents and potentials that exist in each student. (2). The average level of students' creative thinking skills is low because most of the answers from students are the same. Based on these findings, there is an interaction between students' critical and creative thinking skills. To optimize this, teachers must create a classroom atmosphere that encourages students' curiosity to ask questions, seek answers and explore new ideas so that they are ready to face challenges in the world of work and everyday life.

Dengan kemampuan berpikir kritis, siswa dapat mengembangkan pandangan yang kreatif dan solusi yang inovatif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui tingkat kemampuan berpikir kritis dan kreatif siswa SMK Teknik Pemesinan. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian Survey dengan subyek 100 siswa SMK Teknik Pemesinan. Penelitian ini menggunakan teknik pengumpulan data dengan menyebarkan lembar tes soal esai pada seluruh siswa SMK progran keahlian teknik mesin.Teknik analisis data menggunakan metode pendekatan kuantitatif dengan statistik deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa : (1). Rata-rata tingkat kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa rendah. Rendahnya kemampuan berpikir kritis yang dimiliki siswa disebabkan karena proses pembelajaran yang kurang efektif dalam mengembangkan minta, bakat serta potensi yang ada dalam diri setiap peserta didik. (2). Rata- rata tingkat kemampuan berpikir kreatif siswa rendah karena banyak nya jawaban dari siswa sebagian besar jawaban siswa yang sama. Berdasarkan temuan ini terdapat interaksi antara kemampuan berpikir kritis dan kreatif siswa, untuk mengoptimalkan hal tersebut guru harus menciptakan suasana kelas yang mendorong rasa ingin tahu siswa untuk bertanya, mencari jawaban dan mengeksplorasi ide-ide baru sehingga mereka siap menghadapi tantangan di dunia kerja dan kehidupan sehari-hari.
