Abstract

The presence of Gen RB program is a way for Radar Banten to provide a platform for young people in Banten to develop their skills in journalism. In addition, Gen RB is also a way for Radar Banten to recruit young journalists amidst the declining interest of young people in the journalist profession. The researcher is interested in examining how the communication strategy of recruiting young journalists through the Gen RB program is packaged with a gig economy work system. This research uses a qualitative research approach with the concept of Hafied Cangara's Communication Strategy and Onong Uchjana Effendy's AIDDA (Attention, Interest, Desire, Decision, and Action) model. The results of the study explained that the recruitment communication strategy carried out was effective by applying Hafied Cangara's Communication Strategy and supported by the AIDDA model. Recruitment starts from researching needs, planning to determine targets and strategies to be used in recruiting, implementing or implementing planned strategies, evaluating all recruitment activities that have been carried out, and making reports. The stages of communication strategy in recruitment carried out by Gen RB have run according to the flow of the concept of communication strategy even though the reporting stage has not been documented.

Additional Information: Kehadiran program Gen RB menjadi cara Radar Banten menyediakan wadah bagi anak muda di Banten untuk mengembangkan kemampuannya di bidang jurnalistik. Selain itu, Gen RB juga menjadi cara Radar Banten melakukan perekrutan jurnalis muda di tengah menurunnya ketertarikan anak muda terhadap profesi jurnalis. Peneliti tertarik untuk mengkaji bagaimana strategi komunikasi perekrutan jurnalis muda melalui program Gen RB yang dikemas dengan sistem kerja gig economy. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan penelitian kualitatif dengan konsep Strategi Komunikasi Hafied Cangara dan model AIDDA (Attention, Interest, Desire, Decision, dan Action) Onong Uchjana Effendy. Hasil penelitian menjelaskan bahwa strategi komunikasi perekrutan yang dilakukan efektif dengan menerapkan Strategi Komunikasi Hafied Cangara dan didukung oleh model AIDDA. Perekrutan dimulai dari penelitian terhadap kebutuhan, melakukan perencanaan untuk menentukan sasaran serta strategi yang akan digunakan dalam melakukan perekrutan, pelaksanaan atau implementasi strategi yang telah direncanakan, melakukan evaluasi terhadap seluruh kegiatan perekrutan yang telah dilakukan, dan membuat laporan. Tahapan strategi komunikasi dalam perekrutan yang dilakukan oleh Gen RB sudah berjalan sesuai alur konsep strategi komunikasi meskipun pada tahap pelaporan belum terdokumentasi.
