Abstract
Problem-solving ability is a crucial thing that is why every student needs it. Indonesia is one of the countries that shows low mathematical problem solving ability. The way to improve these abilities is to provide suitable strategies of problem-solving and provide appropriate teaching and learning interactions for students. A good teaching method is to pay attention to the psychological aspect by observing the condition of students, one of which is by providing problem-solving strategies that are appropriate to personality types. This study uses the problem- solving strategy described by Herman and observes the personality types proposed by David Keirsey. The purpose of this research is to reveal the strategies used by students in solving mathematical problems based on their personality type so that teachers can find strategies that are suitable for students. This research method uses a descriptive qualitative approach with purpossive sampling. Class X students took a strategy test about linear equations with one variable totaling 3 questions and a personality type test by Keirsey totaling 70 questions. The results of this study indicate that students with Guardian & Artisan personalities tend to use an open- sentence strategy. Students with Rational personalities tend to use the guess & check strategy. And students with Idealist personalities tend to use tables.

| Additional Information: | Setiap siswa membutuhkan kemampuan memecahkan masalah dan menjadi suatu hal yang krusial. Indonesia merupakan salah satu negara yang menunjukkan rendahnya kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika. Cara untuk meningkatkan kemampuan tersebut adalah dengan memberikan strategi pemecahan masalah serta memerhatikan interaksi belajar mengajar yang sesuai kepada siswa. Metode pengajaran yang baik adalah dengan memperhatikan aspek psikologis dengan mengamati kondisi siswa, salah satunya dengan memberikan strategi pemecahan masalah yang sesuai dengan tipe kepribadian. Penelitian ini menggunakan strategi pemecahan masalah yang dijelaskan oleh Herman dan mengamati tipe kepribadian yang dikemukakan oleh David Keirsey. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengungkap strategi yang digunakan siswa dalam menyelesaikan masalah matematika berdasarkan tipe kepribadiannya sehingga guru dapat menemukan strategi yang cocok untuk siswa. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif dengan purpossive sampling. Siswa kelas X mengikuti tes strategi tentang persamaan linear satu variabel sebanyak 3 soal dan tes tipe kepribadian oleh Keirsey sebanyak 70 soal. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa siswa yang berkepribadian Guardian & Artisan cenderung menggunakan strategi kalimat terbuka. Siswa yang berkepribadian Rational cenderung menggunakan strategi tebak & periksa. Dan siswa yang berkepribadian Idealist cenderung menggunakan tabel. | |||||||||
