Abstract

Exclusive breastfeeding is giving only breast milk to babies without additional fluids and solid foods. Babies who are not given exclusive breastfeeding can be at 47.23 times greater risk of experiencing stunting. Exclusive breastfeeding can be influenced by several factors, including maternal knowledge, employment status, family support, and support from health workers. This study aims to analyze the relationship between maternal knowledge, employment status, family support, and health worker support towards exclusive breastfeeding. This study uses a quantitative design with a cross-sectional approach. Sampling was conducted using a purposive sampling technique with a sample size of 35 respondents. The research was conducted from February to April 2025 in the working area of Rau Health Center, Serang City. Data collection was conducted using questionnaires on exclusive breastfeeding, maternal knowledge, employment status, family support, and health worker support. Data analysis was carried out univariately and bivariately, bivariate analysis was conducted using the Chi-Square test. The results of the study showed that the frequency distribution of respondents who provided exclusive breastfeeding (48.6%), had good knowledge (57.1%), were not working (65.7%), had good family support (57.1%), and had good health worker support (68.6%). The results of the study showed that there was a relationship between maternal knowledge (p-value 0.000) and family support (p-value 0.003) with exclusive breastfeeding, and there was no relationship between employment status (p-value 0.404) and health worker support (p-value 0.8803) with exclusive breastfeeding. There needs to be an educational program about exclusive breastfeeding in small groups from pregnancy.
