Abstract
The behavior of food handlers in implementing sanitary hygiene iscrucial for preventing food contamination. Factors that can influence the sanitary hygiene behavior of food handlers include knowledge and attitudes. This study aims to analyze the relationship between knowledge and attitudes of food handlers with sanitary hygiene behavior in the canteen of Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University. This cross sectional study was conducted on 43 food handlers in the canteen of Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University, with total sampling technique. Knowledge and attitude data were collected by questionnaire, while sanitary hygiene behavior data were obtained through observation. The chi square test was used to analyze the relationship between variables. The results showed that there were still food handlers who had a poor level of knowledge (44,2%), attitude (48,8%), and behavior (41,9%). The analysis test showed that there was a significant relationship between the level of knowledge of food handlers and sanitary hygiene behavior (p=0.027). Respondents with a good level of knowledge had good sanitary hygiene behavior. In contrast, there was no relationship between the attitude of food handlers and sanitary hygiene behavior (p=0.290). However, based on observations, food handlers with poor sanitary hygiene behavior were found to have good sanitary hygiene attitudes due to limited sanitary hygiene facilities and lack of awareness of food handlers. Therefore, this study can provide input to agencies to facilitate training activities, supervision, and infrastructure to improve the knowledge, attitudes, and sanitary hygiene behavior of food handlers.

| Additional Information: | Perilaku penjamah makanan dalam menerapkan higiene sanitasi adalah aspek yang sangat penting untuk diperhatikan guna mencegah kontaminasi makanan. Faktor yang dapat memengaruhi perilaku higiene sanitasi penjamah makanan, diantaranya adalah pengetahuan dan sikap. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis hubungan antara pengetahuan dan sikap penjamah makanan dengan perilaku higiene sanitasi di kantin Universitas Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa. Penelitian cross sectional ini dilakukan pada 43 orang penjamah makanan di kantin Universitas Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa, dengan teknik total sampling. Data pengetahuan dan sikap diambil dengan kuesioner, sedangkan data perilaku higiene sanitasi diperoleh melalui observasi. Uji chi square digunakan untuk menganalisis hubungan antar variabel. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan masih terdapat penjamah makanan yang memiliki tingkat pengetahuan (44,2%), sikap (48,8%), dan perilaku (41,9%) yang kurang baik. Uji analisis menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara tingkat pengetahuan penjamah makanan dengan perilaku higiene sanitasi (p=0,027). Responden dengan tingkat pengetahuan yang baik, memiliki perilaku higiene sanitasi baik. Sebaliknya, tidak ada hubungan antara sikap penjamah makanan dengan perilaku higiene sanitasi (p=0,290). Meski demikian, berdasarkan hasil observasi ditemukan penjamah makanan dengan perilaku higiene sanitasi yang kurang ternyata memiliki sikap higiene sanitasi yang baik dikarenakan keterbatasan fasilitas higiene sanitasi dan kurangnya kesadaran penjamah makanan. Oleh karena itu, melalui penelitian ini dapat memberikan masukan kepada instansi untuk memfasilitasi kegiatan pelatihan, pengawasan, dan sarana prasarana guna meningkatkan pengetahuan, sikap, dan perilaku higiene sanitasi penjamah makanan. | |||||||||
