Abstract
This study discusses soil improvement on Jl. Raya Sobang, Ciamis, Kec Sobang, Pandeglang, Banten using chemical stabilization methods with Portland cement and palm kernel ash, with the aim of assessing the effect of adding Portland cement and palm ash on the unsoaked CBR value. The percentage of Portland cement used is 7%, and palm ash is 10%, 15%, and 25%. Portland cement has a good calcium silicate hydrate content, which is suitable for use as a soil stabilizer because it can bind soil particles. The palm ash used has undergone a burning process at a temperature of 800-1,000°C. It contains silica oxide (SiO2) compounds that react (pozzolanic) with cement and form cementation compounds such as C-S-H (calcium silicate hydrate), which serve to increase soil strength. The results of the study indicate that the soil samples are classified as OH class (highly plastic organic clay soil). There was a decrease in the IP value from 18% to 13% and an increase in the unsoaked CBR value from 2.40% to 26.12%, with the optimum percentage at a cement content of 7% and palm ash of 15%. Thus, Portland cement and palm ash are capable ofincreasing the unsoaked CBR value.
