Abstract

This research is rooted in the important role of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD), particularly given preliminary findings indicating that ESD its less than optimal integration into the Junior High School science curricula. The purpose of this research was to develop and evaluate student responses to Augmented Reality (AR) as an ESD-based learning material, focusing on the theme of Biodiversity Sustainability for junior high students. The methodology employed is Research and Development (R&D), utilizing the ADDIE model and specifically concentrating on the development phase. The process of developing the AR learning material involved a series of systematic stages, analyzing potential and problems, data collection, product design, validation, product revision, and assessing student responses. Data collection instruments included interviews, observations, validation sheets, and student response questionnaires. The validity test results indicated that the developed product achieved a 92% score, categorizing it as highly valid. Furthermore, the questionnaire's reliability level registered a value of 0.715, deemed reliable. Student responses to the use of this product were overwhelmingly positive, reaching 94.38%. These findings collectively demonstrate that the development of AR as an ESD-themed Biodiversity Sustainability learning material is considered valid and effective for student use.

Additional Information: Penelitian ini didasari oleh pentingnya Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) dalam pendidikan, terutama karena hasil pra-penelitian menunjukkan bahwa integrasi ESD pada materi pelajaran IPA di tingkat SMP ditemukan belum optimal. Melalui kondisi tersebut, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan dan menguji respon siswa terhadap Augmented Reality (AR) sebagai bahan ajar berbasis ESD dengan tema Keberlanjutan Biodiversitas untuk siswa SMP. Metode yang diterapkan adalah penelitian pengembangan (Research and Development) dengan model ADDIE, yang difokuskan hingga tahap development. Proses pengembangan AR sebagai bahan ajar melibatkan serangkaian tahapan sistematis, meliputi analisis potensi dan masalah, pengumpulan data, perancangan produk, validasi, revisi produk serta hasil respon siwa. Instrumen pengumpulan data yang digunakan diantaranya wawancara, observasi, lembar validasi, dan angket respons siswa. Hasil uji validitas menunjukkan bahwa produk memperoleh 92% yang masuk dalam kategori sangat valid. Di samping itu, tingkat keandalan angket mencatat nilai sebesar 0,715, yang tergolong reliabel. Hasil respon siswa terhadap pemanfaatan produk ini mencapai 94,38%. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa pengembangan AR sebagai bahan ajar dengan tema ESD Keberlanjutan Biodiversitas dianggap valid dan efektif sebagai bahan ajar yang dapat digunakan siswa.
