Abstract
With the increasing volume of waste in Indonesia, effective handling methods are required, one of which is the incineration process. However, incinerator combustion produces harmful exhaust emissions such as carbon monoxide (CO) and hydrocarbons (HC), among others, which can pollute the environment. The purpose of this study is to determine the results of using a perforated plate-based catalytic converter made of copper (Cu) and mild steel (Fe) materials to reduce exhaust emissions from incinerators in the form of CO, HC, CO2 and O2 gases. The test method was carried out using a gas analyzer to compare the content of CO, HC, CO2, and O2 emissions before and after passing through the catalytic converter. The results showed that using a catalytic converter made of copper and mild steel can reduce CO emission levels by 73.35%, HC levels by 57.27%, CO2 levels by 58.54%, and increase O2 levels by 16.83%. EDX testing shows a decrease in the main element levels of each material. In the copper plate, the Cu content decreased from 95.167% to 91.096%. and there was an increase in the Hf element from 0.89% to 4.781% and Fe from 0.105% to 0.361%. For mild steel plates, the Fe element decreased from 94.038% to 83.421% and there was an increase in the Al element from 0.012% to 6.933% and Si from 0.036% to 1.936%. Additional Information: | Dengan volume sampah yang semakin meningkat di Indonesia, metode penanganan yang efektif diperlukan, salah satunya adalah proses insinerasi. Namun demikian, pembakaran insinerator menghasilkan emisi gas buang berbahaya seperti karbon monoksida (CO) dan hidrokarbon (HC), antara lain, yang dapat mencemari lingkungan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui hasil dari penggunaan katalitik konverter berbasis plat berlubang yang terbuat dari material tembaga (Cu) dan mild steel (Fe) untuk menurunkan emisi gas buang dari insinerator berupa gas CO, HC, CO2 dan O2. Metode pengujian dilakukan dengan menggunakan alat gas analyzer untuk membandingkan kandungan emisi CO, HC, CO2, dan O2 sebelum dan sesudah melewati katalitik konverter. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa menggunakan katalitik konverter yang terbuat dari tembaga dan mild steel dapat mengurangi kadar emisi CO sebesar 73.35%, kadar HC sebesar 57,27 %, kadar CO2 sebesar 58,54 %, dan serta menaikan kadar O2 sebesar 16,83 %. Pengujian EDX menunjukkan penurunan kadar unsur utama masing-masing material. Pada pelat tembaga, kadar Cu menurun dari 95,167 % menjadi 91,096%. dan terjadi peningkatan pada unsur Hf dari 0,89 % menjadi 4.781% serta Fe dari 0.105 % menjadi 0.361 %. Untuk plat mild steel, unsur Fe menurun dari 94.038 % menjadi 83.421 % dan adanya peningkatan pada unsur Al dari 0.012 % menjadi 6.933 % serta Si dari 0.036 % menjadi 1.936 %. | |||||||||
