Abstract
The Effectiveness of the Problem-Based Learning Model on Students' Critical Thinking Skills in Junior High School. Department of Mathematics Education. Faculty of Teacher Training and Education. Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University. 2025 This study was motivated by the low critical thinking skills of students. Therefore, a solution to improve students' critical thinking skills is to implement the Problem-Based Learning model. This study was conducted at SMPN 1 Petir during the 2024/2025 academic year, second semester, with the aim of determining whether there is a difference and improvement in the critical thinking skills of students who receive the Problem-Based Learning model compared to the conventional learning model. The method used in this study was quantitative research with a nonequivalent pretest-posttest control group design. The population in this study was ninth-grade students at SMPN 1 Petir in the 2024/2025 academic year. The research sample consisted of two classes: IX E as the experimental class and IX F as the control class. The research instrument consisted of a critical thinking ability test. The results of this study indicate that there was an improvement in students' critical thinking abilities after the PBL learning model was implemented, and that students' critical thinking abilities using the PBL learning model were better than those using the conventional learning model.

Sehingga solusi yang dapat diberikan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa dengan menerapkan model pembelajaran Problem Based Learning. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di SMPN 1 Petir tahun ajaran 2024/2025 semester genap yang bertujuan untuk melihat apakah terdapat perbedaan dan peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa yang mendapatkan model pembelajaran Problem Based Learning lebih baik daripada model pembelajaran konvensional. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif dengan desain nonequivalent pretest posttest control group design. Populasi dalam penelitian adalah siswa kelas IX SMPN 1 Petir tahun ajaran 2024/2025. Sampel penelitian ini diambil dua kelas yaitu IX E sebagai kelas eksperimen dan IX F sebagai kelas kontrol. Instrumen penelitian ini terdiri dari tes kemampuan berpikir kritis. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa setelah diterapkan model pembelajaran PBL dan Kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa dengan model pembelajaran PBL lebih baik dari pada model pembelajaran konvensional. | |||||||||
