Abstract

This study aims to develop a global warming experimental tool based on Arduino and K-type thermocouple sensors as a learning medium to enhance students' critical thinking skills. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). The experimental tool simulates the greenhouse effect using balloons filled with CO2 and regular air, heated by a cartridge heater, with temperature changes measured by sensors and displayed digitally. Validation by media and content experts showed average scores above 80%, indicating the tool is highly feasible for use. Implementation was conducted at SMA Peradaban Serang using a Problem-Based Learning (PBL) approach. Results showed that 50% of students were in the "high" category and 37.5% in the "very high" category for critical thinking skills, with an average score of 77.98. This study demonstrates that the developed experimental tool provides contextual learning experiences and effectively enhances students’ critical thinking skills regarding global warming issues.

Additional Information: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan alat eksperimen pemanasan global berbasis Arduino dan sensor termokopel K-type yang dapat digunakan sebagai media pembelajaran untuk meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis peserta didik. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Research and Development (R&D) dengan model ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). Alat eksperimen ini mensimulasikan efek rumah kaca menggunakan balon berisi gas CO2 dan udara biasa yang dipanaskan oleh pemanas kartrid, sementara perubahan suhu diamati menggunakan sensor suhu dan ditampilkan secara digital. Hasil validasi alat oleh ahli media dan materi menunjukkan skor ratarata di atas 80%, yang mengindikasikan bahwa alat ini sangat layak digunakan. Implementasi dilakukan pada siswa SMA Peradaban Serang dengan pendekatan Problem Based Learning (PBL), dan hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa 50% siswa berada pada kategori berpikir kritis “tinggi” dan 37,5% pada kategori “sangat tinggi” dengan rata-rata nilai sebesar 77,98. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa alat eksperimen yang dikembangkan mampu memberikan pengalaman belajar kontekstual dan efektif dalam meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa terhadap isu pemanasan global.
