Abstract
Seba Baduy is an annual tradition carried out by the Baduy people as a form of respect for regional leaders, such as the Governor of Banten. In the Seba procession, the Baduy people use a unique non-verbal communication system to convey traditional messages, cultural values, and respect for the parties they visit. This study aims to analyze the non-verbal communication system used in Seba Baduy and the meaning contained therein based on interakisionisme. The method used is simbolik interakisionisme with , through direct observation and interviews with traditional leaders and the Baduy community. The results of the study show that non-verbal communication in Seba Baduy is manifested in various forms such as harvest results, Ngalaksa, and the manner of walking and speaking. For example, the attitude of submission and folded hands shows respect, while white clothes symbolize purity and simplicity. In addition, the manner of bringing agricultural products as offerings also reflects the philosophy of life of the Baduy people who value the balance of nature and humans. This study confirms that nonverbal communication in Seba Baduy has an important role in maintaining traditions and strengthening the cultural identity of the Baduy people. Understanding this communication system can also be a reference in cross-cultural communication studies, especially in understanding traditional forms of communication that are still preserved amidst modernization.

| Additional Information: | Seba Baduy merupakan tradisi tahunan yang dilakukan oleh masyarakat Baduy sebagai bentuk penghormatan kepada pemimpin wilayah, seperti Gubernur Banten. Dalam prosesi Seba, masyarakat Baduy menggunakan sistem komunikasi non�verbal yang khas untuk menyampaikan pesan adat, nilai budaya, serta rasa hormat kepada pihak yang mereka kunjungi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis sistem komunikasi non-verbal yang digunakan dalam Seba Baduy serta makna yang terkandung di dalamnya berdasarkan teori interakisionisme simbolik. Metode yang digunakan adalah interakisionisme simbolik dengan pendekatan kualitatif, melalui observasi langsung dan wawancara dengan tokoh adat serta masyarakat Baduy. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa komunikasi non-verbal dalam Seba Baduy diwujudkan dalam berbagai bentuk seperti hasil panen, Ngalaksa, serta tata cara berjalan dan berbicara. Misalnya, sikap tunduk dan tangan terlipat menunjukkan rasa hormat, sementara pakaian putih melambangkan kesucian dan kesederhanaan. Selain itu, tata cara membawa hasil bumi sebagai persembahan juga mencerminkan filosofi kehidupan masyarakat Baduy yang menghargai keseimbangan alam dan manusia. Penelitian ini menegaskan bahwa komunikasi non-verbal dalam Seba Baduy memiliki peran penting dalam menjaga tradisi serta memperkuat identitas budaya masyarakat Baduy. Pemahaman terhadap sistem komunikasi ini juga dapat menjadi referensi dalam studi komunikasi lintas budaya, terutama dalam memahami bentuk komunikasi tradisional yang masih lestari di tengah modernisasi. | |||||||||
