Abstract

Newman Error Analysis (NEA) in solving Banten culture-based mathematical literacy problems on algebra material and provide appropriate scaffolding. The study used a qualitative approach with a case study method. This study involved 36 students of grade VIII of SMP Al-Wildan Islamic School 7 Serang. The subjects selected were students who made mistakes in answering mathematical literacy tests. Interviews were conducted with subjects using the constant comparison method with each type of error being interviewed with two subjects. The results showed that the most dominant types of errors were transformation errors and answer writing errors. Providing scaffolding gradually can help students correct these errors, especially through assistance in identifying keywords, creating mathematical models, and rechecking answers. This study shows that the provision of scaffolding varies for each student and the type of error. Therefore, the knowledge and skills of teachers in providing scaffolding are important to note so that students achieve learning objectives.

Additional Information: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis jenis kesalahan matematis siswa berdasarkan Newman Error Analysis (NEA) dalam menyelesaikan soal literasi matematika berbasis budaya Banten pada materi aljabar serta memberikan scaffolding yang sesuai. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus. Penelitian ini melibatkan 36 siswa kelas VIII SMP Al-Wildan Islamic School 7 Serang. Subjek yang dipilih merupakan siswa yang melakukan kesalahan dalam menjawab tes lietrasi matematis. Wawancara dilaksanakan kepada subjek menggunakan metode perbandingan tetap dengan masing-masing jenis kesalahan dilakukan wawancara terhadap dua subjek. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa jenis kesalahan yang paling dominan adalah kesalahan transformasi dan penulisan jawaban. Pemberian scaffolding secara bertahap mampu membantu siswa memperbaiki kesalahan tersebut, khususnya melalui bantuan mengidentifikasi kata kunci, membuat model matematika, dan memeriksa kembali jawaban. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pemberian scaffolding berbeda-beda kepada setiap siswa dan jenis kesalahannya. Oleh karena itu, pengetahuan dan keterampilan guru dalam memberikan scaffolding penting diperhatikan agar siswa mencapai tujuan pembelajaran.
