Abstract

Marine debris is a persistent solid material processed by humans directly or indirectly that is discarded and left in the marine environment. The distribution of marine debris in coastal areas is greatly influenced by the movement of current and tides. Marine debris will be a direct threat to marine ecosystems and habitats, recuding the beauty of beaches, causing various diseases, reducing the productivity of fish catches and causing socio-economic losses. This study aims to determine the type and density of marine debris on Panimbang beach and Sidamukti beach. This study was conducted in April-May 2023. Sampling was carried out 4 times in 1 month. This study used a purposive sampling method by determining sub-transects far from the sea, in the middle and close to the sea. The results of the study obtained result, namely that the marine debris found was in the form of plastic, rubber and glass waste. The most waste found was in the sub-transect box area far from the sea, this was caused by the habbit of people throwing and burning garbage on the sea shore. The results of the study indicate that the type and weight of marine debris most commonly found on Panimbang beach and Sidamukti beach was plastic waste. Density the amount of marine debris found on Panimbang Beach is 131 items/25m2 of plastic waste, 10 items/25m2 of rubber waste, and 4 of glass waste. Mean while, the density of marine debris in Sidamukti Beach is 98 items/25m2 of plastic waste, 9 items/25m2 of rubber waste, and 1 items/25m2 of glass waste.

Additional Information: Sampah laut merupakan material padat persisten yang diolah oleh manusia secara langsung maupun tidak langsung yang dibuang dan tertinggal di lingkungan laut. Persebaran sampah laut di wilayah pesisir sangat dipengaruhi oleh pergerakan arus dan pasang surut. Sampah laut akan menjadi ancaman langsung bagi ekosistem dan habitat laut, berkurangnya keindahan pantai, menyebabkan berbagai macam penyakit, berkurangnya produktivitas ikan tangkap, dan menyebabkan kerugian aspek sosial ekonomi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui jenis dan kepadatan sampah laut di pantai Panimbang dan pantai Sidamukti. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan April-Mei 2023. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan sebanyak 4 kali dalam bulan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode purposive sampling dengan menentukan sub-transek yang jauh dari laut, tengah dan dekat dengan laut. Hasil penelitian memperoleh hasil yaitu sampah laut yang ditemukan berupa sampah plastik, karet dan kaca. Sampah yang paling banyak ditemukan yaitu pada area kotak sub-transek yang jauh dari laut, hal tersebut disebabkan oleh kebiasaan masyarakat membuang dan membakar sampah di tepi laut. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa jenis dan bobot sampah laut yang paling banyak ditemukan di pantai Panimbang dan pantai Sidamukti berupa sampah plastik. Kepadatan jumlah sampah laut yang ditemukan di pantai Panimbang yaitu pada sampah plastik sebanyak 131 potong/25m2, sampah karet sebanyak 10 potong/25m2, dan sampah kaca sebanyak 4 potong/25m2. Sedangkan kepadatan jumlah sampah laut di pantai Sidamukti yaitu pada sampah plastik sebanyak 98potong/25m2, sampah karet sebanyak 9potong/25m2, dan sampah kaca sebanyak 1potong/25m2.
