Abstract
Sauropus androgynus (L.), commonly known as Katuk, is a plant that grows naturally without human intervention and is widely cultivated in Indonesia due to its nutritional value and ease of propagation. Vegetative propagation through cuttings often faces challenges in root development, which can be addressed by applying Plant Growth Regulators (PGRs). This study aimed to evaluate the effect of coconut water and mung bean sprout extract, both natural sources of PGRs, on the growth of Katuk cuttings under different soaking durations. A factorial randomized block design (RBD) was used, with two factors: (1) concentration of PGR solution 0% (K0), 100% coconut water (K1), 100% bean sprout extract (K2), and a 50:50 mixture (K3); and (2) soaking duration 4 hours (P1), 6 hours (P2), and 8 hours (P3). Results showed that the K2 treatment significantly accelerated shoot emergence (1.19 days), while K0 resulted in the highest shoot height at 2 weeks after planting (1.36 cm). At 4 weeks, K3 achieved the greatest height (4.83 cm). The combination of K2 and P2 significantly increased the number of shoots (1.46), and treatments K0P3, K1P1, K2P3, and K3P3 showed a 100% survival rate of cuttings. These findings suggest that mung bean sprout extract, particularly when applied for 6 hours, enhances the propagation success of Katuk cuttings.

Additional Information: | Sauropus androgynus (L.), dikenal sebagai tanaman Katuk, merupakan tanaman yang dapat tumbuh secara alami tanpa campur tangan manusia dan banyak dibudidayakan di Indonesia karena kandungan mineral, vitamin, dan klorofilnya yang bermanfaat. Perbanyakan tanaman Katuk secara vegetatif melalui metode stek sering mengalami kendala dalam pembentukan akar, sehingga diperlukan perlakuan dengan Zat Pengatur Tumbuh (ZPT). Air kelapa tua dan ekstrak tauge merupakan sumber ZPT alami yang mengandung hormon pertumbuhan seperti auksin, sitokinin, dan giberelin. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh konsentrasi campuran air kelapa tua dan ekstrak tauge serta lama perendaman terhadap pertumbuhan stek Katuk. Penelitian dilaksanakan di Greenhouse Kebun Percobaan Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa pada bulan September–Desember 2024, menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) faktorial dengan dua faktor: konsentrasi larutan ZPT (0%, 100% air kelapa tua, 100% ekstrak tauge, dan campuran 50:50) dan lama perendaman (4, 6, dan 8 jam). Parameter yang diamati meliputi waktu muncul tunas, jumlah tunas, tinggi tunas, jumlah daun, jumlah dan panjang akar, serta persentase tanaman hidup. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan K2 (100% ekstrak tauge) mempercepat waktu muncul tunas (1,19 hari), K3 meningkatkan tinggi tunas pada 4 MST (4,83 cm), dan interaksi K2P2 meningkatkan jumlah tunas (1,46 buah). Beberapa kombinasi perlakuan seperti K0P3, K1P1, K2P3, dan K3P3 menghasilkan persentase hidup stek sebesar 100%. Penelitian ini membuktikan bahwa ekstrak tauge dan air kelapa tua efektif sebagai ZPT alami dalam mempercepat pertumbuhan stek Katuk. | |||||||||
