Abstract
Background: Elderly individuals are those aged over 60, a stage of life marked by various physical and psychological changes. Family support refers to the interaction among family members demonstrated through attitudes, actions, and acceptance throughout a person's life. Personal hygiene behavior involves efforts to maintain personal and environmental cleanliness. Objective: This study aims to identify the relationship between family support and elderly individuals’ behavior in meeting their personal hygiene needs. Methods: This research is an analytic observational study using a cross-sectional design. The instruments used were questionnaires on family support and personal hygiene behavior. The study population consisted of elderly individuals in the working area of Singandaru Public Health Center (Puskesmas), Serang City. A total of 107 respondents were selected using a consecutive sampling technique. Data were analyzed using the Chi-Square test. Results: Among the participants, 65.42% (70 people) received good family support, while 34.58% received moderate support. In terms of personal hygiene, 58.88% demonstrated good behavior, while 41.12% showed moderate behavior. Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between family support and the personal hygiene behavior of elderly individuals in the working area of the Singandaru Public Health Center, Serang City (P = 0.000).

| Additional Information: | Latar Belakang: Lansia merujuk kepada individu yang usianya lebih dari 60 tahun, di mana pada usia ini seseorang mengalami beragam perubahan, baik aspek fisik maupun mental (psikis). Dukungan keluarga adalah proses interaksi antara anggota keluarga yang ditunjukkan melalui sikap, tindakan dan penerimaan yang berlangsung sepanjang kehidupan. Perilaku personal hygiene merupakan upaya menjaga kebersihan diri dan lingkungan. Tujuan: Penelitian ini adalah untuk mengidentifikasi hubungan antara dukungan keluarga dan perilaku lansia dalam memenuhi kebutuhan personal hygiene. Metode: Jenelitian ini adalah observasional analitik dengan metode cross-sectional. Instrumen penelitian menggunakan kuesioner dukungan keluarga dan perilaku personal hygiene. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah lansia di Wilayah Kerja Puskesmas Singandaru Kota Serang. Dengan jumlah sampel 107 orang, pengambilan sampel menggunakan teknik Consecutive Sampling. Analisa data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan Chi-Square. Hasil: Sebagian besar dukungan keluarga baik (65,42%), dukungan keluarga cukup (34,58%), dan sebagian besar perilaku personal hygiene baik (58,88%), perilaku personal hygiene cukup (41,12%). Kesimpulan: Terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara Dukungan Keluarga dengan Perilaku Personal Hygiene Lansia di Wilayah Kerja UPTD Puskesmas Singandaru Kota Serang (P=0.000). | |||||||||
