Abstract

This study raises the issue of the quality of interpersonal communication skills of fifth grade students of SD Negeri Cileles even though some students have quite good emotional intelligence, so it is necessary to further understand the relationship between these two aspects. This study aims to determine the extent to which emotional intelligence contributes to students' interpersonal communication skills. The research method used was a quantitative design with proportionate stratified random sampling technique, involving 69 respondents from class V students. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed by simple linear regression test. The results showed that there is a significant influence between emotional intelligence on students' interpersonal communication, as indicated by the significance level of 0.00, which is smaller than 0.05, meaning that emotional intelligence statistically affects students' interpersonal communication skills. 26.9% of students' interpersonal communication skills are influenced by emotional intelligence, while the remaining 73.1% is influenced by other variables. Based on these findings, it is expected that there will be development of communication skills training programs and emotional intelligence of students, as well as involving teachers and parents in creating an environment that supports the development of these two aspects.

Additional Information: Penelitian ini mengangkat permasalahan kualitas kemampuan komunikasi interpersonal siswa kelas V SD Negeri Cileles meskipun sebagian siswa memiliki kecerdasan emosi yang cukup baik, sehingga perlu pemahaman lebih lanjut mengenai hubungan antara kedua aspek ini. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui sejauh mana kecerdasan emosional berkontribusi terhadap kemampuan komunikasi interpersonal siswa. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah desain kuantitatif dengan teknik proportionate stratified random sampling, melibatkan 69 responden dari siswa kelas V. Pengumpulan data melalui kuesioner dan dianalisis dengan uji regresi linier sederhana. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan antara kecerdasan emosional terhadap komunikasi interpersonal siswa, yang ditunjukkan oleh tingkat signifikasi sebesar 0,00, yang lebih kecil dari 0,05, artinya kecerdasan emosional secara statistik berpengaruh terhadap kemampuan komunikasi interpersonal siswa. Sebesar 26,9% kemampuan komunikasi interpersonal siswa dipengaruhi oleh kecerdasan emosi, sementara sisanya 73,1% dipengaruhi oleh variabel lain. Berdasarkan temuan ini, diharapkan adanya pengembangan program pelatihan keterampilan komunikasi dan kecerdasan emosi siswa, serta melibatkan guru dan orang tua dalam menciptakan lingkungan yang mendukung perkembangan kedua aspek ini.
