Abstract
Students often struggle with learning a foreign language, including grammar. In learning grammar, students find it difficult to understand and remember grammar rules and have low motivation to learn grammar. The purpose of this study was to ascertain whether Quizizz can improve seventh-grade students’ grammar achievement and students’ perceptions of using Quizizz at SMP Negeri 13 Kota Serang. Quzizz was chosen because it looks engaging, and there are many options for question forms. This study used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental and involved two classes, an experimental and a control class from the seventh grade at SMP Negeri 13 Kota Serang, for the samples. The data were collected using pre-tests, post-tests, and closed-ended questionnaires as instruments. Data were analyzed using SPSS 25. The results showed that the sig (2-tailed) was less than 0.05 (0.004 < 0.05), which implemented the independent sample t-test model. Then, the results for students’ perception and motivation showed 3.31, and for the technical issues showed 3.23. This conclusion leads to the receiving of the alternative hypothesis (H1) and the decline of the null hypothesis (H0) and also confirms that both of the students’ perception categories were high.

Additional Information: | Siswa sering mengalami kesulitan dalam mempelajari bahasa asing, termasuk tata bahasa. Dalam mempelajari tata bahasa, siswa merasa kesulitan untuk memahami dan mengingat aturan tata bahasa dan memiliki motivasi yang rendah untuk mempelajari tata bahasa. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui apakah Quizizz dapat meningkatkan prestasi tata bahasa siswa kelas tujuh dan persepsi siswa terhadap penggunaan Quizizz di SMP Negeri 13 Kota Serang. Quizizz dipilih karena tampilannya yang menarik dan terdapat banyak pilihan bentuk soal. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan kuasi eksperimen dan melibatkan dua kelas, yaitu kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol dari kelas tujuh di SMP Negeri 13 Kota Serang, sebagai sampel. Data dikumpulkan dengan menggunakan pre-test, post-test, dan kuesioner tertutup sebagai instrumen. Data dianalisis menggunakan SPSS 25. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nilai sig (2-tailed) kurang dari 0,05 (0,004 < 0,05), yang menerapkan model independent sample t-test. Kemudian, hasil untuk persepsi dan motivasi siswa menunjukkan 3,31, dan untuk masalah teknis menunjukkan 3,23. Kesimpulan ini mengarah pada penerimaan hipotesis alternatif (H1) dan penolakan hipotesis nol (H0) dan juga menegaskan bahwa kedua kategori persepsi siswa adalah tinggi. | |||||||||
