Abstract

The problem of synthetic plastic waste that takes hundreds or even thousands of years to decompose has become an urgent global environmental issue, so innovative efforts are needed to reduce its negative impact. This study examines the application of the Learning Cycle 6E learning model through bioplastic practicum in an effort to improve students' creative thinking skills on polymer material. This study used a quantitative approach with a one group pretest posttest design, involving 28 students of class XII Industrial Chemistry at SMK Muhammadiyah Cilegon. The instruments used include teaching modules, LKPD, practicum modules, implementation observation sheets, and pretest-posttest questions. The validity and reliability of the instruments have been tested and meet the requirements set. Data analysis using the Paired Sample T-Test test with a value of t = -12.775; significance 0.000 or <0.05 and N-Gain test of 0.69 which is in the “medium” category. So that it shows a significant increase in the creative thinking ability of students after the application of the Learning Cycle 6E learning model. Based on these results, it is concluded that the application of the Learning Cycle 6E learning model is effective in optimizing the polymer learning process while fostering the creativity of students to find innovative solutions to environmental pollution problems.

Additional Information: Permasalahan limbah plastik sintetik yang butuh waktu ratusan bahkan ribuan tahun untuk terurai telah menjadi isu lingkungan global yang mendesak, sehingga perlu upaya inovatif untuk mengurangi dampak negatifnya. Penelitian ini mengkaji penerapan model pembelajaran Learning Cycle 6E melalui praktikum bioplastik dalam upaya meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kreatif peserta didik pada materi polimer. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan one group pretest posttest design, penelitian ini melibatkan 28 peserta didik kelas XII Kimia Industri di SMK Muhammadiyah Cilegon. Instrumen yang digunakan meliputi modul ajar, LKPD, modul praktikum, lembar observasi keterlaksanaan, dan soal pretest-posttest. Validitas dan reliabilitas instrumen telah diuji dan memenuhi syarat yang diteteapkan. Analisis data menggunakan uji Paired Sample T-Test dengan nilai t = -12,775; signifikansi 0,000 atau <0,05 dan uji N-Gain sebesar 0,69 yang masuk kategori “sedang”. Sehingga menunjukkan adanya peningkatan yang signifikan pada kemampuan berpikir kreatif peserta didik setelah penerapan model pembelajaran Learning Cycle 6E pada materi polimer. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut, disimpulkan bahwa penerapan model pembelajaran Learning Cycle 6E efektif dalam mengoptimalkan proses pembelajaran polimer sekaligus menumbuhkan kreativitas peserta didik untuk mencari solusi inovatif dalam masalah pencemaran lingkungan.
