Abstract

Chemistry is considered one of the most difficult subjects to understand due to its abstract nature, including the topic of atomic theory development, which is more conceptual and theoretical, making many students feel bored. Therefore, media that can stimulate students curiosity and motivation to learn through digital-based tools is needed. The aim of this research is to develop, assess the feasibility of, and analyze students responses to a digital pocketbook with a crossword puzzle game based on scientific literacy in the topic of atomic theory development. This study follows the Research and Development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE model, which consists of five stages: Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, and Evaluate. This research resulted in a digital pocketbook product that was validated and deemed feasible for use, with a material validation score of 0.95 and a media validation score of 0.98. The student response test showed an average percentage of 86% in the "Very Good" category. Based on the research findings, the development of a digital pocketbook with a crossword puzzle game based on scientific literacy in atomic theory development is considered suitable and practical for use as a teaching material in chemistry lessons.

Additional Information: Kimia menjadi salah satu pelajaran yang dinilai sukar untuk dipahami karena materinya yang bersifat abstrak, termasuk juga materi perkembangan teori atom yang lebih konseptual dan teoritis sehingga banyak siswa yang merasa jenuh. Maka dari itu, diperlukan media yang dapat membangkit rasa ingin tahu siswa dan motivasi belajar dengan menggunakan media yang berbasis digital. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengembangkan, menguji kelayakan, dan mengetahui respon siswa terhadap media buku saku digital dengan game TTS berbasis literasi sains pada materi perkembangan teori atom. Jenis penelitian ini yaitu R&D (Research and Development) menggunakan model ADDIE yang terdiri dari 5 tahap yakni Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, dan Evaluate. Penelitian ini menghasilkan produk berupa buku saku digital yang valid dan layak untuk digunakan berdasarkan nilai validasi materi dan media sebesar 0.95 dan 0.98. Hasil uji respon siswa mengenai media ini mencapai rata-rata persentase 86% dengan kategori “Sangat Baik”. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, pengembangan media buku saku digital dengan game TTS berbasis literasi sains pada materi perkembangan teori atom dapat dikatakan layak dan praktis untuk digunakan sebagai bahan ajar materi kimia.
