Abstract
This study aims to improve students’ writing skills through the implementation of storytelling pathways using Canva. The research employed a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design, involving 33 students of class VIII A at SMP Negeri 12 Cilegon as the subjects. The study was conducted in two cycles, each consisting of the stages of planning, action, observation, and reflection. Data collection instruments included writing tests, observation sheets, learning motivation questionnaires, and interviews. The data were analyzed using both descriptive qualitative and quantitative approaches. The findings indicate a significant improvement in students’ writing skills following the integration of storytelling pathways via Canva. The average score for writing skills increased from 57.27% in the pre-test to 70.90% in the first cycle, and further rose to 81.97% in the second cycle. In addition, students’ learning motivation also showed positive development, as evidenced by the results of the motivation questionnaires. Similarly, interviews with several students revealed that the use of Canva was effective in improving both their writing abilities and motivation in learning English. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the use of storytelling through Canva is an effective strategy for improving students’ writing skills and learning motivation.

Additional Information: | Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan menulis siswa melalui penerapan storytelling pathways menggunakan Canva. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) dengan subjek penelitian sebanyak 33 siswa kelas VIII A SMP Negeri 12 Cilegon. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus yang masing-masing terdiri dari tahap perencanaan, tindakan, observasi, dan refleksi. Instrumen pengumpulan data meliputi tes menulis, lembar observasi, angket motivasi belajar, dan wawancara. Data dianalisis menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan yang signifikan pada keterampilan menulis siswa setelah dilakukan integrasi storytelling pathways melalui Canva. Nilai rata-rata keterampilan menulis meningkat dari 57,27% pada prates menjadi 70,90% pada siklus pertama, dan meningkat lagi menjadi 81,97% pada siklus kedua. Selain itu, motivasi belajar siswa juga menunjukkan perkembangan yang positif, terbukti dari hasil angket motivasi. Demikian pula hasil wawancara dengan beberapa siswa yang menyatakan bahwa penggunaan Canva efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan menulis dan motivasi belajar bahasa Inggris. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan storytelling melalui Canva merupakan strategi yang efektif untuk meningkatkan kemampuan menulis dan motivasi belajar siswa. | |||||||||
