Abstract

This method is one way to carry out a children's self-development program. The aim of this research is to improve the self-development abilities of mentally disabled children at SKh Negeri 01 Cilegon City. This research uses the Single Subject Research method with an A-B-A design. The population in this study consisted of grade 1 children at SDKh Negeri 01 Cilegon City. The sample in this study consisted of 2 people with the criteria of not being able to practice brushing their teeth themselves. Data collection techniques include tests and observations. The measuring tool used in this research is that children are able to care for their teeth by brushing their teeth. The results and discussion show that there are better changes in children's self-development abilities when compared to children's initial abilities before being given intervention using the storytelling method using picture story books.

Additional Information: Metode ini merupakan salah satu cara untuk menjalankan program bina diri anak. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk meningkatkan kemampuan bina diri anak tunagrahita di Negeri 01 Kota Cilegon. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Single Subject Research dengan desain A-B-A. Populasi dalam penelitian ini terdiri dari anak-anak kelas 1 SDKh Negeri 01 Kota Cilegon. Sampel dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 2 anak tunagrahita dengan kriteria belum bisa melakukan bina diri menyikat gigi. Teknik pengumpulan data berupa tes dan observasi. Alat ukur yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah anak mampu merawat gigi dengan cara menyikat gigi. Hasil dan pembahasan menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perubahan yang lebih baik terhadap kemampuan bina diri anak jika dibandingkan dengan kemampuan awal anak sebelum diberikan intervensi menggunakan metode storytelling menggunakan media buku cerita bergambar.
