Abstract

The study aims to determine the learning process, the challenge, and student responses on teaching vocabulary by using nursery rhymes in SDN Tembakang 2. The method used in this research is qualitative by implementing a case study research design. The data was collected through observation, interview, and documentation. The participants of this research are the fifth-grade student which consist of 20 students and the teacher. Based on the findings, the researcher found that the teacher faced difficulty in finding appropriate nursery rhymes with the material, and most of the students faced difficulty in self-confidence. However, the students positively responded to the implementation of nursery rhymes in teaching vocabulary, the students can pronounce and remember the vocabulary easily after singing nursery rhymes. Their English score also increased in themes 1,2, and 4 which the teacher used nursery rhymes as learning media. In conclusion, the use of nursery rhymes as teaching media helps students in learning vocabulary.

Additional Information: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui proses pembelajaran, kesulitan, dan respon siswa dalam pembelajaran kosakata dengan menggunakan nursery rhymes di SDN Tembakang 2. Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah kualitatif dengan menerapkan desain penelitian studi kasus. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Partisipan penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas lima yang terdiri dari 20 siswa dan guru. Berdasarkan temuan, peneliti menemukan bahwa guru menghadapi kesulitan dalam menemukan nursery rhymes yang sesuai dengan materi, dan sebagian besar siswa menghadapi kesulitan dalam kepercayaan diri. Namun, siswa menanggapi secara positif penerapan nursery rhymes dalam pembelajaran kosakata, siswa dapat mengucapkan dan mengingat kosakata dengan mudah setelah menyanyikan nursery rhymes. Nilai bahasa Inggris mereka juga meningkat pada tema 1, 2, dan 4 di mana guru menggunakan nursery rhymes sebagai media pembelajaran. Kesimpulannya, penggunaan lagu anak-anak sebagai media pengajaran membantu siswa dalam mempelajari kosakata.
