Abstract

This research was conducted with the aim of describing how the implementation of the bilingual program improves students' English speaking skills and English speaking skills at SD Tiara School. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method to examine the condition of the phenomenon or natural materials. The subjects in this study were the principal, English teachers, and grade III students of SD Tiara School. The data in this study were obtained through observation, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis techniques used were collecting data, reducing data, presenting data, and making conclusions or verifying data. Then the data was tested for validity with the credibility, transferability, dependability and conformability test techniques. The results of the study showed that the implementation of the bilingual program, such as Cooking Class, English Festival, and English, science, and math subjects, as well as habits at SD Tiara School succeeded in significantly improving students' English speaking skills. This can be seen from the results of interviews and observations which showed that students were more confident in using both languages in everyday communication and in academic contexts. The bilingual program at SD Tiara School has succeeded in improving students' English speaking skills, this can be seen from the results of students' speaking scores for a year starting from grade 2 semester 2 to grade 3 semester 2. The average number of students' scores in grade 2 semester 2 reached 87.35 and in grade 3 semester 2 reached 90. The increase from 87.35 to 90 shows an increase in English speaking skills

Additional Information: Penelitian ini dilakukan bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan bagaimana pelaksanaan program bilingual dalam meningkatkan keterampilan berbicara bahasa Inggris siswa dan bagaimana kemampuan keterampilan berbicara bahasa Inggris siswa di SD Tiara School. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif untuk memeriksa kondisi fenomena atau bahan yang alami. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah kepala sekolah, guru bahasa Inggris, dan siswa kelas III SD Tiara School. Data pada penelitian ini diperoleh dengan cara observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan yaitu mengumpulkan data, reduksi data, menyajikan data, dan membuat kesimpulan atau verifikasi data. Lalu data diuji keabsahannya dengan teknik uji kredibilitas (credibility), keteralihan (transferbility), ketergantungan (dependability) dan kepastian (conformability). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pelaksanaan program Pelaksanaan program bilingual, seperti Cooking Class, English Festival, dan mata pelajaran english, science, dan math, serta pembiasaan-pembiasaan di SD Tiara School berhasil meningkatkan keterampilan berbicara bahasa Inggris siswa secara signifikan. Hal ini dapat dilihat dari hasil wawancara dan observasi yang menunjukkan bahwa siswa lebih percaya diri dalam menggunakan kedua bahasa dalam komunikasi sehari-hari maupun dalam konteks akademik. Program bilingual di SD Tiara School telah berhasil meningkatkan keterampilan kemampuan berbicara bahasa Inggris siswa, hal ini dilihat dari hasil nilai speaking siswa selama setahun dimulai dari kelas 2 semester 2 sampai kelas 3 semester 2. Jumlah rata-rata nilai siswa pada kelas 2 semetser 2 mencapai 87,35 dan pada kelas 3 semester 2 mencapai 90. Peningkatan dari 87,35 ke 90 menunjukkan adanya peningkatan keterampilan berbicara bahasa Inggris.
