Abstract
This research aims to examine the influence of the practicum method on the science process skills of class VIII students on vibration and wave material at SMP Negeri 14 Serang City. Science process skills are basic competencies that support the achievement of science learning objectives through scientific investigation, including the ability to observe, classify, test hypotheses, interpret data, conclude and communicate. Based on the results of observations, it was found that students lacked mastery of these skills, especially in the aspects of communication and data interpretation, due to the application of less varied learning methods. This research used a quasi-experimental design with a purposive sampling technique, involving two classes: the experimental class which applied the practical method, and the control class which applied the demonstration method. Data was collected through pretest, posttest and observation sheets. The research results showed that students in the experimental class who used the practical method experienced a significant increase in science process skills, with an average posttest score reaching 74, higher than the control class, which obtained an average score of 66. Hypothesis testing showed a sig. 0.001, which means H1 is accepted and H0 is rejected, indicating that the practicum method has a positive effect on students' science process skills.

Additional Information: | Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji pengaruh metode praktikum terhadap keterampilan proses sains siswa kelas VIII pada materi getaran dan gelombang di SMP Negeri 14 Kota Serang. Keterampilan proses sains merupakan kompetensi dasar yang mendukung pencapaian tujuan pembelajaran IPA melalui penyelidikan ilmiah, termasuk kemampuan observasi, mengklasifikasi, pengujian hipotesis, interpretasi data, menyimpulkan dan mengkomunikasikan. Berdasarkan hasil observasi, ditemukan bahwa siswa kurang menguasai keterampilan tersebut, terutama dalam aspek komunikasi dan interpretasi data, akibat penerapan metode pembelajaran yang kurang variatif. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain eksperimen semu dengan teknik purposive sampling, melibatkan dua kelas: kelas eksperimen yang diterapkan metode praktikum, dan kelas kontrol yang diterapkan metode demonstrasi. Data dikumpulkan melalui pretest, postest, dan lembar observasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa siswa pada kelas eksperimen yang menggunakan metode praktikum mengalami peningkatan signifikan dalam keterampilan proses sains, dengan rata-rata nilai postest mencapai 74, lebih tinggi dibandingkan kelas kontrol yaitu memperoleh nilai rata-rata sebesar 66. Uji hipotesis menunjukkan nilai sig. 0,001, yang berarti H1 diterima dan H0 ditolak, mengindikasikan bahwa metode praktikum berpengaruh positif terhadap keterampilan proses sains siswa. | |||||||||
