Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of implementation of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model with Play Answer assisted by traditional games on students' mathematical problem-solving abilities. The research subjects were eighth-grade students at MTs Negeri 1 Cilegon for the 2024/2025 academic year. The research design employed a quasi-experimental method with two groups: an experimental group using PBL with Play Answer in traditional games and a control group using the conventional learning. The instruments used included mathematical problem-solving tests and observation sheets. The results showed that the mathematical problem-solving abilities of students in the experimental group improved significantly compared to those in the control group. The implementation of this method also enhanced students’ interest and engagement in learning mathematics. In conclusion, PBL based on the Play Answer method in the context of traditional games is effective in improving students' mathematical problem-solving skills and provides a fun and meaningful learning experience.

Additional Information: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji penerapan model Problem-Based Learning (PBL) dengan play answer berbantuan permainan tradisional terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas VIIIB dan VIIID MTs Negeri 1 Cilegon tahun ajaran 2024/2025. Desain penelitian menggunakan metode eksperimen kuasi dengan dua kelompok, yaitu kelompok eksperimen yang menggunakan PBL berbasis play answer dengan permainan tradisional dan kelompok kontrol yang menggunakan pembelajaran konvensional. Instrumen yang digunakan meliputi tes kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis dan lembar observasi sebagai pendukung. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa pada kelompok eksperimen meningkat secara signifikan dibandingkan kelompok kontrol. Penerapan metode ini juga meningkatkan minat dan keterlibatan siswa dalam pembelajaran matematika. Kesimpulannya, PBL berbasis play answer dengan konteks permainan tradisional efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa serta memberikan pengalaman belajar yang menyenangkan dan bermakna.
