Abstract

This research was prepared against the background of the situation of students who were identified as having learning difficulties who did not know the letters of the alphabet, could not read syllables and could not read words or sentences fluently. The aim of this research is to improve the reading ability of children with learning difficulties using the syllable method. The research method used is aquantitative experimental method using single subject research with analysis within and between conditions. The results obtained were that each phase of this research experienced an ever-increasing graph. This can be seen from thecomparison of the mean level in the baseline phase-1 (A1) of 78.6%, in the Mintervention phase (B) of 86.6% and in the baseline phase-2 (A2) of 84.1%. So it can be said that the use of this syllable method can improve the reading ability of students with learning difficulties.

Additional Information: Penelitian ini disusun dengan dilatarbelakangi oleh keadaan siswa yang diidentifikasi kesulitan belajar belum mengenal huruf abjad, belum dapat membaca suku kata dan belum dapat membaca kata maupun kalimat dengan lancar. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu untuk meningkatkan kemampuan membaca pada anak kesulitan belajar dengan metode suku kata. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode kuantitatif eksperimen menggunakan penelitian subjek tunggal (Single Subject Research) dengan analisis dalam dan antar kondisi. Hasil yang didapatkan yaitu setiap fase pada penelitian ini mengalami grafik yang selalu meningkat. Hal ini dapat dilihat dari perbandingan mean level pada fase baseline- 1 (A1) sebesar 78,6%, pada fase intervensi (B) sebesar 86,6% dan pada fase baseline- 2 (A2) sebesar 84,1%. Maka dapat dikatakan bahwa penggunaan metode suku kata ini dapat meningkatkan kemampuan membaca siswa dengan kesulitan belajar.
