Abstract

21st century learning demand mastery of knowledge that links science, technology, engineering and mathematics which plays a major role as a learning reform towards 21st century learning. However, in the learning process, students are not accustomed to linking the four fields of exact science which are considered effective in meeting the needs of learning in the 21st century. This study aims to describe and describe the effectiveness of the STEM Approach that has been applied to learning lathe machining practices at SMK. This research was conducted at 13 vocational schools spread across Cilegon City, Serang City, and Serang Regency using the ex-post facto research method. Sampling was done with Simple Random Sampling technique. The research sample amounted to 32 teachers who taught lathe machining techniques. The research instrument used a questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability. From the results of testing the research hypothesis, there is effectiveness and relationship between the use of STEM Approach and Lathe Machining Practice Learning. This is evidenced by the implementation of STEM declared "Good" and the effectiveness of STEM can be categorized as "Very Effective". There is a relationship between the STEM variable (X) and the lathe machining variable (Y) by looking at the value in the T test results which show that the tcount is 3.048 > ttable 2.042 and significance <0.05, it can be concluded that there is an effectiveness of lathe machining learning using the STEM Approach according to the specified hypothesis.

Additional Information: Pembelajaran abad ke-21 menuntut penguasaan ilmu yang mengkaitkan keilmuan dibidang sains, teknologi, teknik, dan matematik yang berperan berperan utama sebagai sebuah pembaharuan pembelajaran menuju pembelajaran abad ke- 21. Namun, dalam proses pembelajaran peserta didik belum terbiasa mengkaitkan empat bidang ilmu eksakta yang dinilai efektif dalam memenuhi kebutuhan pembelajaran di abad ke-21. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggambarkan serta mendeskripsikan efektivitas Pendekatan STEM yang telah diterapkan pada pembelajaran praktik pemesinan bubut di SMK. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada 13 SMK yang tersebar di wilayah Kota Cilegon, Kota Serang, dan Kab. Serang dengan metode penelitian ex-post facto. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan teknik Simple Random Sampling. Sampel penelitian berjumlah 32 guru yang mengajar teknik pemesinan bubut. Instrumen penelitian menggunakan kuesioner yang telah diuji validitas dan reabilitasnya. Dari hasil pengujian hipotesis penelitian terdapat efektivitas dan hubungan antara Penggunaan Pendekatan STEM dengan Pembelajaran Praktik Pemesinan Bubut. Hal ini dibuktikan dengan keterlaksanaan STEM dinyatakan “Baik” dan efektifitas STEM dapat dikategorikan “Sangat Efektif”. Terdapat hubungan antar variabel STEM (X) dengan variabel pemesinan bubut (Y) dengan melihat nilai pada hasil uji T yang menunjukan bahwa thitung 3,048 > ttabel 2,042 dan signifikasi <0,05 dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat efektivitas pembelajaran pemesinan bubut menggunakan Pendekatan STEM sesuai hipotesis yang ditentukan.
