Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine how the effect of group counseling services with assertive training can help students improve interpersonal communication skills with peers. Quasi-experimental design is the method used in this study. The population in this study were 144 students who were students in grades XI-1 to XI-4 at Yuppentek 1 High School in Tangerang City. The pre-test results showed that out of a total of 144 students, there were 10 students in the low category, 95 students in the medium category, and 39 students in the high category. The treatment was given to students who were in the low category as many as 10 students and divided into two groups, namely the experimental group and the control group with each group consisting of 5 students. The data analysis method used is Mann-Whitney U hypothesis test analysis and Gain Score analysis. Based on the results of the Mann-Whitney U hypothesis test analysis, the Sig. (2-tailed) value is 0.007. As seen in hypothesis decision making, the value of 0.007 is lower than 0.05, so it can be concluded that the hypothesis is accepted. Thus, it means that there is a success of the influence of assertive training to improve interpersonal communication skills with peers in students.

Additional Information: Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui bagaimana pengaruh layanan konseling kelompok dengan assertive training dapat membantu siswa dalam meningkatkan keterampilan komunikasi interpersonal dengan teman sebaya. Desain kuasi eksperimen adalah metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini. Populasi pada penelitian ini sebanyak 144 siswa yang merupakan siswa kelas XI-1 sampai dengan XI-4 di SMA Yuppentek 1 Kota Tangerang. Hasil pre-test menunjukkan dari total 144 siswa, terdapat 10 siswa pada kategori rendah, 95 siswa pada kategori sedang, dan 39 siswa pada kategori tinggi. Pelaksanaan treatment diberikan kepada siswa yang berada pada kategori rendah sebanyak 10 siswa dan dibagi menjadi dua kelompok yaitu kelompok eksperimen dan kelompok kontrol dengan tiap kelompok terdiri dari 5 siswa. Metode analisis data yang digunakan adlah analisis uji hipotesis Mann-Whitney U dan analisis Gain Score. Berdasarkan hasil analisis uji hipotesis Mann-Whitney U diperoleh nilai Sig. (2-tailed) bernilai 0.007. Sebagaimana melihat pada pengambilan Keputusan hipotesis, nilai 0.007 lebih rendah daripada 0.05 maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa hipotesis diterima. Dengan demikian artinya terdapat keberhasilan dari pengaruh assertive training untuk meningkatkan keterampilan komunikasi interpersonal dengan teman sebaya pada siswa.
